Plant Director

Purpose of the role

The Plant Director is responsible for leading overall manufacturing operations to ensure the achievement of production, quality, safety, delivery, and cost objectives. This role drives operational excellence, develops high-performing teams, and works closely with cross-functional departments to support sustainable business growth and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

• Oversee production planning, resource utilization, and operational performance to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

• Monitor key manufacturing KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve operational results.

Operational Excellence

• Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

• Standardize manufacturing processes and promote best practices across production operations.

• Identify opportunities to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

Engineering & Maintenance

• Support equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and manufacturing capability improvement.

• Lead or participate in plant expansion, equipment upgrades, and automation projects where required.

• Work closely with engineering teams to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Foster a strong safety culture and promote continuous improvement in workplace safety.

• Support customer audits and maintain relevant quality management systems.

Financial Management

• Manage plant operating budgets and manufacturing costs.

• Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining product quality and service levels.

• Support annual budgeting and operational planning activities.

Leadership & People Development

• Lead, coach, and develop the plant leadership team to build organizational capability.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

• Support talent development and succession planning for key operational positions.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, HR, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth operations and business alignment.

• Build effective relationships with suppliers and external partners to support manufacturing activities.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• 12–15 years of manufacturing experience, including several years in a plant leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and operational KPIs.

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and manufacturing automation/digitalization is an advantage.

• Proven leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Good English skills.
