Material Planning Specialist

YOUR ROLE

As a Material Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and controlling material availability to support uninterrupted production while maintaining optimal inventory levels. You will coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely material supply, accurate planning data, and efficient inventory management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and monitor material requirements to ensure continuous production without shortages.

• Maintain optimal inventory levels through stock monitoring, ABC analysis, and inventory control.

• Monitor material availability and proactively identify and resolve potential shortages.

• Review material shortages and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely recovery.

• Monitor pipeline inventory to ensure material availability from suppliers through production.

• Maintain planning master data, including PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and ERP planning parameters.

• Execute and monitor MRP recommendations to ensure planning accuracy.

• Support Engineering Change (ECN) implementation by updating planning parameters and minimizing inventory risks.

• Support new product launches by ensuring material readiness and planning data accuracy.

• Monitor excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory and participate in inventory reduction initiatives.

• Prepare purchase requisitions or planning recommendations in accordance with planning requirements.

• Analyze material planning performance and prepare regular planning and inventory reports.

• Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, Engineering, and Logistics to resolve material-related issues.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency, inventory accuracy, and supply chain performance.

YOUR BACKGROUND

• Experience in material planning, supply chain, or production planning within an automotive manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory control, and supply chain processes.

• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent).

• Familiar with demand planning, supplier coordination, inventory optimization, and production scheduling.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in material planning, production planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.

• Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.

• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.

• Good analytical and reporting skills.

• Good command of written and spoken English or Chinese
