About This Role

We are looking for a motivated Structural Steel Detailer with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience and practical experience using Tekla Structures or Advance Steel.

The role will focus on preparing accurate steel detailing, fabrication, and shop drawings while coordinating with engineers, fabricators, and internal teams to meet project requirements and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

• Prepare detailed 3D models, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings for steel structures using Tekla Structures or Advance Steel.

• Prepare and update drawings based on design changes and project requirements.

• Generate material lists and relevant fabrication information.

• Prepare RFIs when clarification of design or technical information is required.

• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure drawings are accurate and comply with relevant standards and project requirements.

• Maintain proper documentation, drawing revisions, and project records.

• Ensure assigned work is completed within agreed deadlines.

• Support fabrication and installation teams when technical clarification is required.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing, preferably for Australian residential projects.

• Strong technical knowledge of steel structures and relevant Australian Standards, such as AS 4100.

• Experience with Advance Steel (AutoCAD 3D) or Tekla Structures is highly advantageous.

• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Drafting, or a Certificate IV in Drafting (Structural Design).

• Candidates with experience in timber truss or frame detailing who are interested in transitioning into structural steel are welcome to apply.

• Australian residential construction knowledge is required; timber detailing experience will be an added advantage.

• Competent in Outlook, AutoCAD, and Excel.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new software and systems.
