Chemical Engineering Manager

• BPFC Creation: Develop and optimize bonding process flow charts (BPFC) by thoroughly evaluating product material components and determining the most efficient, practical, and cost-effective bonding processes while ensuring all quality, performance, and manufacturing requirements are met.

• Innovate & Commercialize: Lead the identification, evaluation, and commercialization of new chemical suppliers, adhesives, and bonding technologies. Collaborate closely with the HS Group to integrate innovative solutions into products from concept development through mass production.

• Drive Sustainability: Champion sustainability initiatives by developing and implementing environmentally responsible solutions, including VOC-reducing adhesives, bio-based materials, and circular recycling processes that support the company's sustainability goals.

• Solve Complex Challenges: Apply technical expertise to investigate root causes of bonding- and chemical-related quality issues, and develop robust corrective and preventive solutions to ensure product performance and manufacturing excellence.

• Build Organizational Expertise: Mentor and support teams within the HS Creation Center and HS Production Locations by sharing technical knowledge, strengthening capabilities, and promoting the adoption of best practices in chemical and bonding technologies.

• Strategic Partnership: Work closely with Development and Innovation teams to align on strategic priorities, accelerate chemical and material advancements, and drive continuous improvement in product creation and manufacturing processes.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Minimum 10 years of proven experience in chemical engineering, polymer development, or chemical applications within the footwear industry, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

• Extensive knowledge of athletic footwear product creation and manufacturing, with a strong understanding of materials, processes, bottom technologies, upper treatments, and industry trends across multiple product categories.

• Deep technical expertise in footwear compound formulation (e.g., outsole rubber, EVA, SCF midsoles, and related materials), manufacturing technologies (e.g., No-Sew, HF, STF, ASS, and other footwear construction processes), and compliance with ZDHC standards and sustainable chemical management practices.

• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a strong passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and driving technical advancements in a fast-paced environment.
