Automation Manager (based Tân Tạo Industrial Zone)

Job Purpose

The Automation Manager is responsible for developing and executing the company's automation and digital transformation strategy to improve manufacturing productivity, product quality, operational safety, and traceability across all manufacturing facilities.

The role leads the Automation Engineering team in developing, upgrading, and standardizing automation systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES, Robotics, Machine Vision, Industrial IoT (IIoT), and data analytics platforms. The incumbent also serves as the technical expert for complex automation challenges involving machine control, system integration, and manufacturing optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Automation Strategy & Digital Transformation

• Develop and implement a 3–5-year automation roadmap.

• Propose and manage CAPEX investments for automation projects.

• Standardize PLC, HMI, SCADA, and MES architecture across all manufacturing sites.

• Drive Smart Factory and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

• Establish company-wide automation engineering standards.

• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve manufacturing performance.

2. PLC, HMI & SCADA System Management

• Manage and standardize PLC programming and software architecture.

• Develop and maintain standard PLC programming libraries.

• Upgrade machine control systems and automation platforms.

• Manage PLC/HMI backup and version control.

• Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex automation issues.

• Control software modifications and ensure system reliability.

3. MES, Barcode & Traceability Systems

• Lead the implementation of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

• Develop barcode scanning and traceability systems throughout the manufacturing process.

• Integrate barcode scanners, printers, and mobile devices with ERP/SAP.

• Ensure real-time production data collection and full product traceability.

4. Robotics, Machine Vision & Manufacturing Automation

• Lead industrial robotics implementation projects.

• Integrate machine vision inspection systems into production lines.

• Automate manual manufacturing processes.

• Optimize servo motion control systems.

• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities for new production equipment.

5. Data Analytics & Smart Manufacturing

• Develop manufacturing dashboards and KPI reporting systems.

• Integrate production data from PLC, SCADA, and MES platforms.

• Analyze OEE, downtime, yield, and production performance.

• Implement Power BI, Grafana, or similar business intelligence solutions.

• Promote AI and advanced analytics applications for manufacturing optimization.

6. Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Lead, coach, and develop the Automation Engineering team.

• Provide technical training on PLC, SCADA, MES, Robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and operational excellence programs.

• Build technical capability and succession plans within the automation team.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Automation E

• Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

• Master's degree is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial automation.

• At least 4 years in a senior engineering or automation management role.

• Proven experience in automated manufacturing environments.

• Hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA, MES, Industrial IoT, Robotics, and Machine Vision systems.

• Experience managing automation teams and leading digital transformation projects.

• Experience working with international equipment suppliers.
