Senior Production Merchandiser Womenswear

Lucy in the Sky (http://lucyinthesky.com) is an international womenswear brand based in Los Angeles, USA. We are currently building a new product development and production operation in Da Nang to support our growing business and expand our manufacturing capabilities in Vietnam.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Production Merchandiser with strong current knowledge of garment factories and sewing workshops in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and the surrounding region.

This is a hands-on production role. The successful candidate will be expected to spend significant time visiting factories, sourcing suitable production partners, monitoring active orders, identifying risks early, and ensuring that production is completed on time and to the required quality standard.

This is not primarily a desk-based merchandising position. We need someone who understands factory operations, has practical production experience, and can help build and manage a reliable local manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate suitable garment factories and sewing workshops in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and nearby areas.

Develop relationships with small and medium-sized factories, particularly workshops with approximately 20–100 sewing operators.

Source manufacturers suitable for small and medium production orders.

Evaluate factory capability, product specialization, machinery, workforce, capacity, quality systems, and delivery reliability.

Arrange and manage production tests with potential factories.

Obtain and negotiate CM, FOB, and production quotations.

Review garment construction and production requirements with factories before order placement.

Coordinate the transfer of patterns, samples, tech packs, materials, trims, and production instructions.

Confirm production schedules, cutting dates, sewing start dates, finishing timelines, and shipment dates.

Visit factories regularly to monitor cutting, sewing, finishing, packing, and overall production progress.

Check actual production output against factory commitments.

Identify delays, quality issues, material shortages, capacity problems, or technical risks at an early stage.

Report significant production risks immediately rather than waiting until deadlines are missed.

Work with factories to develop practical solutions when production problems arise.

Coordinate with pattern makers, sample makers, designers, sourcing staff, and the Operations Manager.

Support quality control during production and before shipment.

Maintain clear records of factory capabilities, pricing, performance, lead times, and current capacity.

Develop backup factory options for important styles and categories.

Provide regular written production updates using clear status reporting.

Support the gradual expansion of Lucy in the Sky’s manufacturing network in Vietnam.

Minimum 5 years of experience in garment merchandising, production management, sourcing, or factory coordination.

Strong practical experience working directly with garment factories.

Current knowledge of factories and sewing workshops in Da Nang, Quang Nam, or Central Vietnam.

Experience managing production orders from development through shipment.

Good understanding of garment construction, sewing operations, production planning, costing, quality, and delivery control.

Ability to evaluate whether a factory is suitable for a specific garment or order.

Strong problem-solving ability.

Ability to identify and report production risks early.

Comfortable visiting factories frequently and working outside the office.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

Able to work independently and take ownership of production issues.

Honest, direct, and reliable communication.

Basic to good English communication is preferred.

Experience working with international brands, buying offices, export factories, or overseas customers is an advantage.

Experience with women’s dresses, occasionwear, or fashion products is strongly preferred.

Existing relationships with local factories and subcontractors are a major advantage.

Have recently worked with small and medium-sized garment factories.

Know factory owners, production managers, subcontractors, and sewing workshop operators in Central Vietnam.

Are confident entering a factory, reviewing actual production status, and challenging unrealistic information.

Do not rely only on factory promises.

Report problems immediately and propose solutions.

Understand that early warning is essential in production.

Are motivated to help build a new production network rather than only maintain established vendors.

Reporting Structure

The Senior Production Merchandiser will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Founder, Head Designer, pattern makers, sample makers, and production team.

For urgent production issues, direct and immediate communication with senior management will be expected.

Location

Da Nang, Vietnam

The role requires frequent travel to factories in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and surrounding areas.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience, factory network, and production capability.

Expected range: USD 1,200–1,800 per month.

Factory travel and approved business expenses reimbursed separately.

Performance review after the initial probation period.
