Senior Production Merchandiser Womenswear

Lucy in the Sky (http://lucyinthesky.com) is an international womenswear brand based in Los Angeles, USA. We are currently expanding our product development and manufacturing capabilities in Vietnam, with a product development operation based in Da Nang and a growing network of production partners across the country.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Production Merchandiser based in Ho Chi Minh City with strong current knowledge of garment factories, sewing workshops, subcontractors, and material suppliers in Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Long An, and surrounding manufacturing areas.

This is a hands-on production role. The successful candidate will spend significant time visiting factories, identifying suitable production partners, monitoring active orders, resolving production issues, and ensuring that orders are completed on time and to the required quality standard.

This is not primarily a desk-based merchandising position. We need someone with practical factory experience, strong local industry relationships, and the ability to build and manage a reliable manufacturing network for fast-moving women’s fashion products.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate suitable garment factories and sewing workshops in Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Long An, and nearby areas.

Develop relationships with small and medium-sized factories, subcontractors, and specialist sewing workshops.

Source manufacturers suitable for small and medium production orders, including factories capable of supporting repeat and larger-volume orders.

Evaluate factory capability, product specialization, machinery, workforce, capacity, technical knowledge, quality systems, and delivery reliability.

Arrange and manage production tests with potential factories.

Obtain, review, and negotiate CM, FOB, and other production quotations.

Review garment construction, production requirements, and potential technical risks with factories before order placement.

Coordinate the transfer of patterns, samples, tech packs, fabrics, trims, and production instructions.

Confirm material arrival, cutting dates, sewing start dates, daily production targets, finishing timelines, and shipment dates.

Visit factories regularly to monitor cutting, sewing, finishing, packing, and overall production progress.

Verify actual production output rather than relying only on verbal factory updates.

Identify delays, quality concerns, material shortages, capacity problems, subcontracting risks, or technical issues at an early stage.

Report significant production risks immediately and provide practical recommendations.

Work directly with factories to resolve production problems and protect delivery schedules.

Coordinate with the Da Nang development team, Operations Manager, Head Designer, pattern makers, sample makers, sourcing staff, and quality team.

Support quality control during production and before shipment.

Maintain clear records of factory capabilities, pricing, performance, lead times, current capacity, and product specialization.

Develop backup factory and subcontractor options for important styles and categories.

Support fabric, trim, wash, printing, embroidery, pleating, and other specialist supplier sourcing when required.

Provide regular written production updates using clear status reporting.

Support the expansion of Lucy in the Sky’s manufacturing network in Southern Vietnam.

Experience with fitted silhouettes, delicate fabrics, draping, cut-outs, corsetry, embellishment, fashion details, and fast-moving women’s products will be highly valued.

Minimum

Minimum 5 years of experience in garment merchandising, production management, sourcing, or factory coordination.

Strong practical experience working directly with garment factories and subcontractors.

Current knowledge of factories and sewing workshops in Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Long An, or nearby manufacturing areas.

Experience managing production orders from development through shipment.

Good understanding of garment construction, sewing operations, production planning, costing, quality, and delivery control.

Ability to determine whether a factory is suitable for a particular garment, order quantity, quality level, and delivery timeline.

Strong problem-solving ability and confidence working directly with factory owners and production managers.

Ability to identify and report production risks early.

Comfortable spending significant time visiting factories and working outside the office.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

Able to work independently and take ownership of production issues.

Honest, direct, and reliable communication.

Good English communication is preferred.

Experience working with international brands, buying offices, export factories, or overseas customers is an advantage.

Experience with women’s dresses, occasionwear, or fashion products is strongly preferred.

Existing relationships with factories, subcontractors, fabric suppliers, and specialist service providers are a major advantage.

Know factory owners, production managers, subcontractors, and sewing workshop operators in Southern Vietnam.

Have experience finding flexible production partners for smaller quantities and fast turnaround times.

Are confident entering a factory, checking actual production status, and challenging unrealistic information.

Do not rely only on factory promises or office-based reporting.

Report problems immediately and propose solutions.

Understand that early warning is essential in production.

Are motivated to build a new production network rather than only maintain established vendors.

Can balance speed, quality, cost, and production feasibility.

Reporting Structure

The Senior Production Merchandiser will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Founder, Head Designer, and product development team in Da Nang.

For urgent production delays, quality concerns, or factory risks, direct and immediate communication with senior management will be expected.

Location

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The role requires frequent travel to factories in Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Long An, and surrounding areas.

Occasional travel to Da Nang may be required for product review, planning, and coordination with the development team.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience, factory network, and production capability.

Expected range: USD 1,200–1,800 per month.

Factory travel and approved business expenses reimbursed separately.

Performance review after the initial probation period.
