JOB PURPOSE

Senior Operations Petro Geologist is an experienced geologist who works as the focal point and coordinator for all subsurface operational activities associated with slimhole batch drilling, daily geological evaluation, and post well evaluation. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring operational readiness, workflow standardization, communication effectiveness, approved procedures, data acquisition programs, and formation evaluation workflows are executed efficiently and consistently throughout the drilling campaign.


JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Well Planning Activities

• Coordinate Geological Well Proposals.

• Ensure subsurface objectives are translated into executable operational programs.

• Support pre spud reviews, technical assurance reviews, and operational readiness reviews.

• Prepare and update operational procedures to ensure offshore geological operations follow best practices at the rig site.

2. Contract, Operation and Supervision

• SSF contracts related to drilling operation: tendering and controlling (SOW and budget).

• Ensure geological operations are conducted in conformity with HSE rules, procedures, guidelines, communication flow, and best practices.

• Act as the primary SSF focal point and coordinator for drilling related subsurface activities, ensuring effective communication between Wellsite Geologists (WSG), DCD, and the SSF Project team.

• Coordinate the Project team for subsurface operational readiness activities, including readiness of personnel, procedures, workflows, reporting systems, databases, and service providers prior to drilling campaign execution.

• Review and validate geological and formation evaluation data while drilling to support operational decision making, optimize data acquisition activities, and reduce subsurface uncertainty.

QC daily geological reports and distribute them to PVN, Partners, and other groups.

• Prepare documents for morning and afternoon SSF operation team meetings.

• Coordinate lessons learned implementation, maintain operational guidelines and workflows, and promote standardization and continuous improvement across slimhole and batch drilling campaigns.

3. Data Quality Control, Petrophysical & Geological Interpretation, Final Reporting

• Continuously monitor mud logging, wireline, and LWD logging operations by closely working with the Wellsite Geologist (WSG).

• Support the Project Petrophysicist to ensure quality controlled data are acquired, analyzed, and synthesized as a Composite Log in a timely manner before importing into the database.

• Work with the WSG for petrophysical quick look analysis if required.

• Coordinate post well sample shipment and tracking activities to ensure timely and compliant delivery of geological and fluid samples to designated laboratories.

• Organize lessons learned meetings and post well evaluation meetings.

• Cooperate with other departments for the Final Geological Well Report.

• Distribute drilling information to relevant groups and support the DBA for data storage in the proper database.

• Support SSF members in internal studies that can bring added value to well interpretation or enhance operational efficiency, and monitor and report on progress.

4. Others

• Justify technical analysis and recommendations regarding formation evaluation data acquisition; integrate, challenge, and synthesize multidisciplinary requirements into COMPANY documents (Wellsite Operation Report, Geological Well Proposal, Final Geological Report, etc.).

• Train, coach, and mentor young geologists and others related to drilling operations.

• Perform technical audits and pre job briefings at the wellsite.

Qualification & Experience<

Qualification & Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in an Operations Geologist position.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Petroleum Engineering.

• Experience in offshore work and GOT operation/geology is preferred.

• Experience in seismic interpretation and integration with well data interpretation.


Required Skills/Abilities

• Proficient in the English language.

• Work effectively in a team environment.

• Independent contributor and highly motivated.

• Proven communication and presentation skills.

• Proficient in MS Office applications and professional software (DSG, Techlog, Petrel, etc.).
