Head Of Research

The role is responsible for shaping the firm’s research philosophy, driving thought leadership, delivering high-impact insights to clients and internal stakeholders, and positioning Mirae Asset as a top-tier research house in Vietnam.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Research Leadership & Governance

• Lead and manage the Research Division, including Retail Research, Institutional Research, and Macro & Strategy teams.

• Build a high-performance research organization with clear coverage structure, quality standards, and succession planning.

• Establish research governance, editorial standards, and quality assurance processes in line with regulatory and group policies.

• Ensure independence, integrity, and compliance across all research activities.

Research Strategy & Thought Leadership

• Define and execute the overall research strategy, thematic focus, and market outlook aligned with business priorities.

• Develop medium- and long-term views on Vietnam’s macro economy, capital markets, and key investment themes.

• Position Mirae Asset Research as a credible thought leader for both retail and institutional investors.

Research Production & Content Oversight

• Oversee the production and quality of:

• Macroeconomic and market strategy reports;

• Sector and industry research;

• Company coverage, valuation, and earnings forecasts;

• Thematic and cross-sector investment ideas.

• Ensure research outputs are actionable, timely, and client-relevant, tailored by client segment (Retail, Institutional, Wealth Management).

Business Partnership & Internal Advisory

• Act as a key research advisor to Board of Directors, Executive Management, and business units.

• Provide market insights and investment recommendations to support:

• Wealth Management Division;

• Institutional / Wholesale Sales;

• Proprietary investment and product development (where applicable).

• Collaborate closely with IB, Retail/Whole Sales, and Marketing to translate insights into commercial impact.

Client Engagement & Market Presence

• Lead analyst presentations, investment seminars, webinars, conferences, and major client events.

• Build and maintain relationships with:

• Key institutional clients;

• Regulators, industry bodies, and economic institutions;

• Corporates and sector experts.

• Enhance research distribution through digital channels and client platforms.

Innovation, Data & Technology Enablement

• Drive transformation of research workflows through:

• Data analytics, automation, and AI-supported tools;

• Integrated databases, dashboards, and modeling platforms.

• Improve speed, consistency, and scalability of research delivery while maintaining analytical rigor.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Banking, or related fields.

• Professional certifications such as CFA, CMT are strongly preferred.

• Securities Practice License is required.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in equity/macro/investment research within securities firms, asset managers, or financial institutions.

• 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Head of Research, Research Director, or equivalent).

• Proven experience managing multi-team research structures serving both retail and institutional clients.

Competencies & Skills

• Strong expertise in macroeconomics, equity analysis, valuation, portfolio strategy, and Vietnam capital markets.

• Demonstrated strategic thinking and market foresight.

• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.

• Strong communication and presentation skills in Vietnamese and English.

• Solid understanding of digital research distribution, data-driven analysis, and technology-enabled research models.
