Cambridge IGCSE Economics Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Economics Teacher to join our Cambridge Secondary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Cambridge IGCSE Economics, supporting students' academic achievement, critical thinking, and real-world economic understanding. The teacher will contribute to curriculum development, assessment, reporting, and school activities while maintaining a student-centered learning environment.

3. DETAILED SCHEDULE

• Detailed teaching timetable to be provided annually
• Occasional Saturday mornings as requested
• Additional work outside contracted hours (e.g., events, activities) compensated at the admin rate

4. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Assessment

• Deliver engaging and effective lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE Economics syllabus.
• Develop students' understanding of economic concepts, theories, data interpretation, and analytical skills.
• Promote inquiry-based learning and real-world application of economic principles.
• Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Prepare, administer, and mark assessments, mock examinations, and coursework where applicable.
• Analyze student performance data and implement intervention strategies to improve outcomes.
• Write student reports and comments in accordance with school requirements.

Planning & Administration

• Prepare lesson plans, teaching resources, assessments, and revision materials aligned with Cambridge standards.
• Upload lesson plans and teaching materials to the school's designated platform by the required deadlines.
• Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and academic records.
• Respond promptly to school communications and administrative requirements.

Collaboration & Events

• Participate in departmental meetings, school meetings, and professional development activities.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences and communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
• Support extracurricular activities as required by the school.

1. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Bachelor's degree or higher in:
  • Economics
  • Business Economics
  • Or a closely related field

Preferred

• Teaching qualification such as:
  • PGCE
  • Teaching License
  • Or equivalent recognized teaching qualification

2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Strong subject knowledge in Economics.
• Experience preparing students for external examinations.

Preferred

• Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Economics (0455).
• Experience teaching Cambridge AS & A Level Economics (9708).
• Experience working in bilingual or international school environments.
• Familiarity with Cambridge assessment objectives and examination standards.
