EMPLOYMENT ARRANGEMENT

This position is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The successful candidate will be employed by British University Vietnam (BUV) under a Vietnamese employment contract. As a member of Taylor's Education Group, BUV supports selected regional initiatives across the Group by employing locally based professionals who contribute to regional businesses and projects.

In this role, the successful candidate will be assigned to support Tau by Taylor's regional business while remaining an employee of BUV throughout the assignment. BUV will remain the legal employer and will be responsible for all employment matters, including the employment contract, payroll, statutory benefits, leave administration and compliance with Vietnamese labour regulations.

Operationally, the role will work as part of Tau by Taylor's regional team and collaborate closely with colleagues, clients and stakeholders across Taylor's Education Group. Day-to-day work priorities and business objectives will be directed by Tau's leadership team, while employment-related matters will continue to be managed by BUV.

This arrangement reflects the collaborative operating model within Taylor's Education Group and provides employees with the opportunity to contribute to regional initiatives while benefiting from local employment and HR support in Vietnam.

POSITION PURPOSE

We are building a new B2B corporate learning and development platform and are looking for a

Senior Software Engineer to help build it from the ground up.

As one of our founding engineers, you will play a key role in shaping both the product and the

engineering culture. You’ll work across the full stack to design, build, and ship features that directly

impact enterprise clients and thousands of learners.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll collaborate closely with Product, Learning, and

Design to turn ideas into a scalable, secure, and delightful product.

Our technology stack includes TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and modern

cloud infrastructure. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys solving real problems,

writing clean software, and continuously improving how we build products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Build great product

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality features across both frontend and backend

systems.

• Build responsive and intuitive user experiences using React.

• Develop scalable and secure backend services and APIs using TypeScript, integrating with

PostgreSQL and other platform services.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that is easy for others to understand and extend.

• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle from discovery and design through

implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

2. Deliver products that matter

• Work closely with Product, Learning, and Design teams to understand customer problems

and turn requirements into working products.

• Contribute ideas during product discovery, helping shape solutions rather than simply

implementing specifications.

• Take ownership of features from concept through production, ensuring quality, reliability, and

performance.

• Help continuously improve the learner and administrator experience by focusing on usability,

accessibility, and performance.

3. Technical excellence

• Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve the platform as it grows.

• Review code thoughtfully and provide constructive feedback to teammates.

• Identify technical debt and proactively improve code quality, maintainability, and developer

experience.

• Help establish engineering best practices around testing, documentation, CI/CD, monitoring,

and observability.

• Stay curious about emerging technologies and evaluate new tools where they provide real

value.

4. Collaboration and team

• Work as part of a collaborative, supportive engineering team where knowledge sharing is

encouraged.

• Partner closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-

quality outcomes.

• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.

• Contribute to building a positive engineering culture where people feel safe to learn,

experiment, and continuously improve.

What we’re looking for

Required

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building modern web applications.

• Strong experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.

• Strong experience building applications using React.

• Experience building scalable backend services using Node.js and RESTful APIs.

• Experience designing and working with PostgreSQL databases.

• Experience working with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.

• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities.

Desirable

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

• Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.

• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

• Experience with modern testing frameworks and automated deployment pipelines.

• Experience within EdTech, HR Tech, or enterprise SaaS products.

• Interest in AI-assisted software development and developer tooling.

• Previous experience at an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer.

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

Knowledge

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including testing, code quality, version control, and debugging.

• Knowledge of authentication technologies such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SSO. Skills
