Product Development Engineer

Job Description:

1. Product Development:

• Develop new products based on customer drawings, specifications, samples, and technical requirements.

• Analyze product feasibility and manufacturing capability.

• Review product structure and recommend improvements to enhance quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

• Support engineering changes throughout the product development process.

2. 3D Design & Technical Development:

• Create and maintain product technical drawings and specifications.

• Develop 3D product models and validate product dimensions.

• Define product construction, sewing methods, and assembly requirements.

• Verify critical dimensions and tolerances.

3. Pattern Development:

• Work with Pattern Engineers to develop production ready patterns.

• Review seam allowance, construction details, and material orientation.

• Validate material consumption and optimize fabric utilization.

• Support pattern modifications during development.

4. Sample Development:

• Coordinate prototype, fit sample, development sample, and PP sample activities.

• Monitor sample progress and resolve technical issues.

• Review sample quality, measurements, functionality, and appearance.

• Implement corrective actions before production release.

5. Technical Documentation:

Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including:

• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations.

• Technical Package

• BOM

• Sewing Specification

• Construction Drawing

• Pattern Files

• Material Consumption

• Operation Breakdown

• Packaging Specification.

6. Cross-functional Coordination:

Work closely with:

• Sales

• Merchandising

• Purchasing

• Production

• Quality

• IE

• Planning

to ensure successful product development and production readiness.

7. Complete other tasks assigned by superiors.

Qualifications

Minimum Academic Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Professional Requirement:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in product development, engineering, or sample development.

• Experience in soft goods, upholstery, furniture, cushions, mattresses, or outdoor products is preferred.

Experience in supervisor role in manufacturing environment (preferred):

• Garment / Soft goods / Furniture / Mattress / Cushion / Footwear

• Candidates from other industries are acceptable provided they have experience working in factories with a high level of machinery, automation, and production equipment.

Knowledge, Skill Requirement:

• a) Product Development Process

• c) 3D CAD Software (SolidWorks, CLO 3D, Rhino or equivalent)

• d) Pattern Development

• e) Gerber / Lectra / CAD Systems

• f) Material Consumption Analysis

• Bill of Materials (BOM)

• Product Testing & Validation

• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and Continuous Improvement is preferred.

• Ability to analyze production data and make improvement plans.
