Job Overview

EMASI Nam Long School is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Science Department. The candidate will manage the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology laboratories full-time, ensuring that all facilities are prepared to support students and teachers.

The Technician should be familiar with all Science subjects. The candidate will be responsible for managing the lab inventory, including the procurement and restocking of equipment. The technician will also assist in the use of Makerspace to ensure that students benefit from an engaging and active learning experience.

Familiarity with Cambridge examinations and MOET curriculum in Science is advantageous.

The technician will collaborate closely with the Science department to plan and execute periodic science projects, fostering strong scientific inquiry across the whole school. The candidate will work in partnership with teachers to prepare practical lessons and develop comprehensive plans for student-led projects and research activities. As part of the daily operations, the technician will maintain diligent lab use records, tracking laboratory bookings, equipment usage, and the consumption of chemical reagents to ensure transparency and accountability within the department. These records will be used to inform future planning and ensure the effective allocation of resources for the science program. The successful candidate will be familiar with, and responsible for, safe and appropriate storage of all equipment and chemicals.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Document all relevant practical plans, equipment logs, and other curricular materials as required by the Science department.

Work closely with the Department and School staff.

Collaborate with teachers to plan and prepare practical lessons, ensuring all required materials are ready for instruction.

Manage and arrange the booking of laboratory rooms for teachers to ensure efficient use of space and resources.

Help supervise and provide technical support to teachers and students during practical lessons when requested.

Manage the equipment and chemicals in the laboratory, including the strategic procurement of supplies, maintaining laboratory safety and ensuring safe storage of all resources.

Continue to review health and safety protocols and conduct risk assessments for all laboratories.

Prepare and clean the laboratory environment before and after experiments, guiding students in safe participation during scientific research.

Reinforce school-wide rules and expectations within the laboratory setting and during lesson support.

Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students and colleagues.

Use detailed data analysis regarding inventory and lab usage to inform best practices for the department.

Complete other tasks as assigned by the School.

Make reports relevant to equipment, chemical inventory, and safety compliance when required.

Qualification & Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree is required in a Science subject or a related field.

Chemistry or Physics background is advantageous

Strong English proficiency. Fluent in Vietnamese.

Previous experience working in a school laboratory, educational environment, or scientific laboratory setting is preferred.

Familiarity with laboratory inventory management, chemical storage standards, and procurement procedures.

Knowledge of the Cambridge Science Framework (including IGCSE and A-level) is preferred.
