Failure Analysis & Test Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS FOR THE ROLE

• In charge of test systems and verification in accordance with the Vietnam production quality test plan.

• Own the development, modification, validation and maintenance of MATLAB-based battery test programs used in production.

• Ensure battery test programs correctly verify BMS, battery module/pack performance, safety limits and pass/fail criteria.

• In charge of the repair process, ensuring repair is performed using the right method, right tool and applicable test standard.

• Provide technical support for test software failures, MATLAB code debugging, test data analysis and root cause investigation.

• Train personnel and drive efficiency, robustness and validity in testing and repair processes.

• Perform other tasks corresponding to job requirements as well as company regulations, accrediting agencies and Vietnamese law as assigned by leaders.

• Bachelor Engineering Degree in Electronic Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 5 years production test engineering experience.

• English language in conversation and writing is a must.

• Hands-on experience in developing, modifying and validating test programs for battery, power electronics or multi-discipline electronic products.

• MATLAB programming skill is a must for current test programs; able to create scripts/functions, automate test sequences, process logs and generate reports.

• Solid knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, BMS functions, module/pack architecture, charge/discharge behavior, SOC/SOH and battery safety limits.

• Experience with test equipment automation and instrument control, such as battery cycler, DC power supply, electronic load, DMM, DAQ and temperature chamber.

• Knowledge of communication protocols used in battery testing, such as CAN, RS485/Modbus, TCP/IP and UART.

• Able to analyze test data and distinguish between product failure, test program issue, fixture issue and equipment issue.

• Working knowledge of software validation, version control, change control, release management and backup/restore of production test programs.

• Extensive knowledge in electronics measurement instruments and techniques.

• Experience from telecom, energy products or battery manufacturing is a merit.

• Experience with complex systems including Simulink, Stateflow, C/C++, Python and/or LabVIEW is a merit.

• IT systems design and management expertise is a merit.

• Process-oriented and analytical approach to validating product quality.

• Quality improvement methods such as Pareto, root cause analysis, FMEA, 8D/DMAIC and DOE.

• Working knowledge of statistical methods and process capability; able to apply statistical tools such as Cpk, GR&R and tests for differences.

• Must be able to analyze and correct complex product, test software and/or process issues using independent judgment.

• Manage projects and report status, risks and actions to management.

• Can work independently, take initiatives and lead the team.

• Willing to work shifts and travel when required.
