The Role: Electrical Engineer (Data Center)

We are seeking a high-caliber Electrical Engineer (Data Center) at the early stages of technical leadership who is ready to take the next step into a Lead Engineering role within the data-center sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering design background, electrical engineering would be preferred, with demonstrable experience delivering mission-critical, including data-center projects, a solid practical understanding of electrical systems, and the confidence to lead, coordinate, and make informed technical decisions within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

This role is suited to an engineer seeking to develop as a data-center industry specialist, with exposure to regional projects across SEA and the Middle-East.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design development, technical review and multidisciplinary coordination of engineering systems for data-center facilities.

- Lead or review critical electrical systems, including MV/LV power distribution, transformers, UPS and battery systems, standby generators, ATS/STS systems, busways, grounding, lightning protection and electrical power-monitoring systems.

- Review electrical capacity, load allocation, redundancy arrangements, protection coordination and system interfaces to support reliable and resilient data-center operations.

Provide technical oversight of mechanical systems, including chilled-water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation, environmental controls and fire-protection interfaces, working closely with the relevant discipline engineers.

- Assess data-center resilience strategies, including N, N+1 and 2N configurations, concurrent maintainability, fault tolerance and potential single points of failure.

- Contribute across key stages of the data-center project lifecycle, including concept design, design development, detailed design, construction support, commissioning and handover.

- Lead technical coordination among electrical, mechanical, fire protection, controls, architectural, structural and other project disciplines to resolve MEP interfaces and engineering risks.

- Review equipment selections, technical calculations, specifications, drawings, design reports and coordinated BIM deliverables.

- Develop and review electrical and MEP sequences of operation, control philosophies, cause-and-effect matrices and system interface requirements.

- Support commissioning and testing activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, functional performance testing, integrated systems testing and failure-recovery scenarios.

- Review commissioning plans, testing procedures, acceptance criteria, test results, defects and system-performance issues.

- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, commissioning agents, equipment vendors and other stakeholders on technical matters.

- Identify technical risks, challenge design assumptions and drive practical engineering solutions that support safety, reliability, constructability, energy efficiency and operational requirements.

- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and early operations to resolve design, installation and system-related issues.

- Apply applicable local regulations, electrical and safety standards, client requirements and recognised international data-center practices.

- Manage technical deliverables, engineering priorities and parallel workstreams to support project programmes and deadlines.

- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and contribute to the development of the company’s data-center engineering capability.

Key Requirements

Minimum Education/Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or a related engineering discipline;

- Possession of Practicing License and/or any relevant data-center design certification would be an advantage.

Minimum Years/Type of Experience

- Minimum 8 years with strong experience in mechanical building-services design and multidisciplinary MEP coordination

- A proven track record in data-center projects is strongly preferred;

- Experience across multiple project stages, including design development, construction support, testing, commissioning and handover, would be advantageous;

- Project-management experience would be an advantage.

Language Proficiency

- English fluency required.
