Backend Engineer (Generative AI)

Build reliable, production-grade Generative AI features that power core product experiences - search, recommendation and personalization - across Vietnamworks and its microsites. Own AI-powered features end-to-end, from design and evaluation through optimization and deployment, working hands-on with LLM APIs and open-source models. Build agentic systems (managed agents), RAG and retrieval, and ranking/relevance for job -candidate matching; prioritize relevance, stability, latency and cost, with guardrails and monitoring (including Vietnamese-language quality).

WHAT YOU’LL DO

1. AI-Powered Features (end-to-end): Own AI-powered features (search, recommendation, personalization) end-to-end — technical design and architecture, including build-vs-buy (LLM API vs open-source model).

2. Agentic Systems (Managed Agents): Build agentic systems (managed agents) tool-calling, orchestration and multi-step workflows integrated with product systems.

3. RAG, Retrieval & Ranking: Build and improve RAG and retrieval (embeddings, reranking, filtering, hybrid search) and ranking/relevance for job–candidate matching and recommendation. Integrate LLM APIs and open-source models into scalable backend systems.

4. Evaluation, Standards & Collaboration: Define and track offline/online evaluation metrics; design and run A/B experiments and ship the improvements. Contribute to evaluation frameworks and engineering best practices; partner with product and data teams.

5. Reliability, Quality & Cost: Optimize quality, latency and cost; add guardrails, fallbacks and monitoring for reliability and safety (including Vietnamese-language quality).

Yêu cầu công việc

Must-have

• Bachelor in Computer Science, IT or equivalent.

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Track record owning features end-to-end: design → evaluation → deployment → monitoring.

• Hands-on building agentic systems / managed agents (tool-calling, orchestration, multi-step workflows) in production.

• Hands-on building AI/ML or search, ranking or recommendation systems in production.

Nice-to-have

• Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, data structures, algorithms, system design) and proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, Go, Rust, or similar).

• LLM app development: LLM APIs and open-source models, RAG, embeddings and prompt design.

• Agentic systems (tool-calling, orchestration, multi-step workflows); evaluation & experimentation (offline/online metrics, A/B testing).

• Debugging performance, correctness and production issues. Pluses: MLOps (serving, monitoring, versioning at scale); Vietnamese-language data/NLP; two-sided marketplace experience.

• Behavioural: product mindset; deep algorithmic and systems thinking over prompt-only solutions; clear communication and ownership.
