The STEM Technician serving as the technical backbone of the school’s fabrication

ecosystem. This is a purely technical, non-teaching support position dedicated to high-

precision operation, maintenance, and safety of machinery. The role is designed to

ensure that the Maker Lab remains a high-functioning environment where the

mechanical theories taught in the classroom are transformed into physical reality

through expert fabrication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

I) FRC & Maker Lab Facility

1. Planning and Implementation

• Participate directly in the procurement process of all workshop machinery to

fully master equipment quality from the start.

• Act as the highly knowledgeable technical expert whose machinery

expertise is respected and relied upon by the teaching staff.

2. Training:

• Conduct purely machine-specific and equipment operation training for

students, ensuring they know how to operate the machinery safely (No

academic or theory teaching).

3. Using (Maintain & Safety):

• Establish, monitor, and strictly enforce workshop safety procedures.

• Directly handle routine maintenance, preventive care, and repairs of all

machines to keep them in optimal condition.

II) Maker Lab Management

• Take full responsibility for managing all physical assets, safety, and organization

of both the FRC Room and the Maker Lab.

• Ensure the spaces are clean, safe, well-organized, and always ready for hands-

on fabrication (cutting, sawing, etc.).

III) Supporting FRC in Curriculum Implementation and Operation

• Provide supporting-only technical and hardware help (including CAD design

assistance, mechanical assembly, physical fabrication, and robot testing) under

the direction of lead teachers.

• Absolutely no involvement in running or operating the academic FRC curriculum.

IV) Supporting Other Subjects to Use Maker Lab in Curriculum Implementation

and Operation

• Assist and support teachers and students from other disciplines (such as

Physics) to safely access and utilize the Maker Lab space and machinery for

their academic projects.

V) Other Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the School.

1. Technical

• CNC: At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating Router CNC machines.

• Others Machine: At least 1 year of experience operating other workshop machinery such as laser cutters, 3D printers, bench drills, grinders, saws, etc.

• Practical-Focused:

+ Heavy emphasis on practical machinery mastery and hands-on skills.

+ No prior experience in school or educational environments is required.

+ A relevant technical or mechanical degree/certificate is preferred. However, candidates with outstanding hands-on expertise who lack formal degrees must pass a practical/demo test during the interview process.

2. Degrees & Certifications

• Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Alternative Pathway: Candidates who lack formal degrees but demonstrate outstanding hands-on machinery mastery must pass a practical machine operation and demonstration test during the interview process.

3. Attitude & Professional Qualities (School Environment Suitability)

• Safety-First Mindset & High Responsibility: Extreme meticulousness in supervising machinery and strictly enforcing workshop safety protocols to guarantee a 100% safe fabrication environment for students.

• Diligence & Cleanliness: Proactive, hardworking, and highly organized; takes full ownership of maintaining cleanliness, order, and tool organization in both the Maker Lab and FRC rooms.

• Patience & Student-Centric Support: Approachable, highly patient, and clear when training and guiding students on machinery operations (providing purely technical instruction without academic lecturing).

• Collaborative & Respectful: Coordinates smoothly with teaching staff and mentors; provides highly reliable technical advice on machine usage while fully respecting academic boundaries and leadership

4. English: Strong workplace communication skills, with the ability to explain complex machinery operations in a simple, clear, and patient manner to students and colleagues.
