Key Deliverables & Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance Kafka producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, and Kafka Connect integrations.
• Design topic structures, schemas (Avro/Protobuf/JSON), partitioning, retention, and versioning strategies to ensure data integrity and evolution.
• Develop microservices using Java, with additional use of Kotlin, Node JS, Go, or Python.
• Containerize applications with Docker and manage deployments on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
• Implement and manage solutions across the AWS stack, including MSK, EC2, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, and Secrets Manager.
• Build CI/CD pipelines using Git and Jenkins/GitHub Actions, and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Ensure the performance, resilience, observability, and security of the Kafka platform.
• Lead technical design reviews, perform code reviews, and mentor the broader development team.

Essential (Must-Have)

• Apache Kafka: including topics, replication, consumer groups, transactions, EOS, and Schema Registry.
• Programming in Java, with proficiency in asynchronous programming and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including MSK, EKS, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
• Strong proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and Terraform.
• Deep understanding of TLS/mTLS, OAuth2, SASL/SCRAM, and RBAC.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Splunk.
• Mastery of Event-driven architecture, Microservices, and CQRS patterns.
• Proficient in spoken and written English

Desirable (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with Confluent Platform or Confluent Cloud.
• Knowledge of Debezium, CDC, Apache Flink, or Spark.
• Familiarity with Apigee as an enterprise API gateway.
• Experience with Data Lake integration (Snowflake, Databricks).
• Domain experience in Aviation or other high-volume data environments.
