CommonSprings is an early-stage water technology company with an ambitious goal: make safe, affordable purified drinking water widely accessible while dramatically reducing dependence on single-use plastic bottles.

We are developing a new generation of public and commercial water refill stations that can be deployed in locations such as convenience stores, shopping centers, offices, schools, transportation hubs, and other high-traffic spaces.

We are now building our first working prototype. This is a hybrid role based in Ho Chi Minh City, with regular in-person work in District 7 for prototype development, supplier coordination, testing, and team collaboration.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Product Development Engineer to work directly with the founder and help turn the CommonSprings concept into a functional, reliable, and scalable product.

This is not a role maintaining an existing product. You will help create the product from the ground up.

Your work may include:

• Developing the technical architecture for our first water refill station

• Evaluating water purification technologies, including RO and multi-stage filtration

• Selecting and sourcing pumps, filters, valves, sensors, tanks, fittings, electrical components, and other hardware

• Integrating water purification, dispensing, cooling/heating, controls, and monitoring systems

• Working with Vietnamese suppliers, manufacturers, fabricators, and technical specialists

• Building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving prototypes

• Designing for sanitation, reliability, ease of maintenance, safety, and cost

• Helping develop testing and preventive-maintenance procedures

• Documenting designs, components, suppliers, testing results, and technical decisions

• Helping move the product from prototype toward pilot deployment and eventual manufacturing

CommonSprings is still at the beginning. The person joining us will have substantial influence over what we build and how we build it.

We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to take an ambitious idea, solve real engineering problems, and help create something with the potential for significant environmental and social impact.

• Degree

• Degree in mechanical, environmental, chemical, water, electrical, mechatronics, industrial, or a related engineering discipline

• Practical engineering experience; approximately 3+ years preferred, although exceptional candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply

• Experience with water treatment, filtration, RO systems, pumps, fluid systems, plumbing, equipment development, machinery, appliances, or related systems is highly desirable

• Strong hands-on problem-solving ability and willingness to build, test, troubleshoot, and iterate

• Ability to evaluate components and suppliers based on performance, reliability, serviceability, and cost

• Comfortable working independently in an early-stage environment where not every problem already has a defined solution

• Able to communicate technical ideas clearly and document engineering decisions

• Ability to work with suppliers and technical partners in Vietnam

• Vietnamese language proficiency required; working English ability strongly preferred

• Based in or able to work in Ho Chi Minh City

Experience with commercial water dispensers, vending equipment, refrigeration, embedded controls, sensors/IoT, CAD, prototyping, or manufacturing is a plus.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to build. CommonSprings is at the prototype stage, so curiosity, initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to turn ideas into working hardware matter as much as job titles.
