JOB SUMMARY
The Lean Specialist supports the implementation and sustainment of Lean, Continuous Improvement (CI), and operational excellence initiatives across the organization.
Reporting to the Lean Assistant Supervisor, this role partners with departments to support improvement projects, facilitate Lean activities, deliver training, analyze operational performance, and maintain standardized processes.
The Lean Specialist contributes to building a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration, problem-solving, and the practical application of Lean principles. The role also supports the deployment and sustainment of assigned Lean systems and capability-building initiatives across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
Support the planning, implementation, and sustainment of Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve operational performance.
Facilitate Kaizen events, process improvement workshops, and structured problem-solving activities while identifying opportunities to eliminate waste using Lean methodologies.
Deliver Lean awareness training and provide guidance to employees on the application of Lean tools and methodologies, including:
5S
Standard Work
SOPs
Visual Management
PDCA
Root Cause Analysis
A3 Problem Solving
Value Stream Mapping
Develop, maintain, and improve:
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Standard Work
Process maps
Visual management materials
Training resources
Other Lean documentation
Collect, analyze, and report operational and KPI data to monitor project performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
Monitor improvement action plans, track project progress, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely implementation and sustainment of improvements.
Promote employee engagement in Continuous Improvement activities and serve as the owner or co-owner of assigned Lean systems, programs, or improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the Learning Development & Training Department.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in:
Lean
Continuous Improvement
Operations
Manufacturing
Learning & Development
Related fields
Experience participating in Lean or process improvement projects.
Experience facilitating training, workshops, or improvement activities is preferred.
Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational data.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of Lean principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with Lean tools, including:

Standard Work
SOPs
Visual Management
PDCA
Root Cause Analysis
A3 Problem Solving
Value Stream Mapping
Waste Elimination
Knowledge of:
Process mapping
Documentation
Standardization
Performance measurement
Basic understanding of KPI development and data analysis.

Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Good communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prepare reports, develop documentation, and maintain accurate records.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly:
Excel
PowerPoint
Power BI
Outlook
Ability to analyze operational data and communicate findings clearly.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
High proficiency in spoken and written English.
