TECHNICAL DESIGNER

The Technical Designer is responsible for translating buyer requirements into production-ready garments by managing fit, measurements, garment construction, and technical development throughout the production process — from sample development to bulk production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Development & Documentation

• Review buyer tech packs and clarify any missing or unclear information.
• Prepare and update internal technical documents for pattern and sample development teams.
• Manage and update technical packages throughout all development stages: Proto, Fit, PP, and TOP samples.
• Ensure all technical specifications are accurately communicated and maintained.

2. Sample & Fit Management

• Measure and evaluate proto, fit, PP, and TOP samples.
• Conduct internal fit sessions and provide detailed correction comments.
• Coordinate fit comments from buyers and ensure accurate pattern revisions.
• Monitor fitting consistency and garment appearance throughout development.

3. Pattern & Garment Construction Support

• Collaborate closely with pattern makers on fit, grading, and garment construction.
• Review garment workmanship and assess production feasibility.
• Identify potential technical or production risks early and provide effective solutions.
• Support continuous improvement of fit and construction standards.

4. Communication & Coordination

• Attend buyer fit meetings and technical discussions (online/offline).
• Translate buyer feedback into clear and actionable instructions for internal teams.
• Work closely with merchandising, sample, and production teams to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support and risk assessments during development.

5. Quality & Production Support

• Ensure PP samples meet approved standards before bulk production.
• Support QA and production teams during pilot runs and bulk production.
• Monitor fabric performance, garment measurements, and construction quality.
• Recommend technical adjustments when necessary to maintain product quality.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit.
• Ability to read and interpret tech packs and specifications accurately.
• Good understanding of measurements and pattern making.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CAD or 3D software (Gerber, Lectra, CLO3D, etc.) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or a related field.
• 3 - 5 years of experience as a Technical Designer in a garment factory or vendor company.
• Experience working with Target buyers is preferred.
• Knowledge of textile properties, fabric testing, and quality standards.
