Financial Controller - Greenfield Manufacturing Factory

Our client is a foreign-invested manufacturing company specializing in modular building products for international markets.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Financial Controller will lead the finance function for the Vietnam manufacturing operation, ensuring strong financial control, statutory compliance, management reporting, cash flow management, and business performance visibility.

The role will also work closely with the international group and senior management team on consolidated reporting, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing documentation, financial modelling, costing, pricing, and margin management.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and develop the finance infrastructure from the ground up as the factory scales up its operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Financial Management & Control

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, ensuring accurate and timely management reporting.

Establish and maintain a robust financial control framework, including approval processes, expenditure controls, cash management, and internal control procedures.

Manage working capital, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships.

Oversee capital expenditure tracking and financial control for factory investment and equipment procurement.

Ensure financial data and reporting provide clear visibility for management decision-making.

2. Vietnam Statutory Accounting & Tax Compliance

Ensure compliance with Vietnamese statutory accounting standards (VAS) and tax regulations, including CIT, VAT, FCT, and PIT.

Manage relationships with external accounting, tax advisory, and audit service providers.

Oversee the coordination between local statutory accounting systems and the company's management accounting / ERP system.

Monitor accounting and tax implications related to import-export activities and the company's operating model.

Ensure timely compliance with relevant investment, business registration, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.

3. Group & Cross-border Financial Reporting

Support consolidated financial reporting across the Vietnam entity and overseas group companies.

Maintain accurate intercompany accounting and supporting transfer pricing documentation.

Prepare financial reports and analysis for senior management and the Board.

Monitor cross-border financial transactions and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and documentation.

Provide financial visibility across different business streams and support management in monitoring profitability and cost allocation.

4. Financial Planning & Business Partnering

Build and maintain long-term financial models and scenario planning to support business growth and strategic decision-making.

Prepare management and Board-level financial reporting packs.

Partner with the General Manager, Operations, and Supply Chain teams on costing, pricing, budgeting, and margin analysis.

Provide financial insights to support product profitability and business performance management.

Support management in evaluating investment decisions and future expansion plans.

5. Team Management

Lead and develop a small finance team covering accounting, finance administration, AR/AP, and costing/pricing activities.

Establish clear processes, responsibilities, and performance standards within the finance function.

Build a scalable finance organization aligned with the company's growth.

8–10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3–5 years in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership position.

Strong experience in manufacturing, preferably within a 100% FDI or international manufacturing environment in Vietnam.

Solid knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and Vietnamese tax regulations.

Experience in group reporting, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing documentation is highly preferred.

Exposure to Hong Kong or other cross-border / multi-entity financial reporting is a strong advantage.

Experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Odoo is highly preferred. Experience integrating ERP with local statutory accounting software such as MISA is an advantage.

Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent is preferred.

Fluent Vietnamese and strong English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively with international stakeholders and senior management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and strong ownership.

Comfortable working independently and building processes in a fast-growing, founder-led organization.
