Environmental And Social Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of Ukko Renewable’s Board of Director, the E&S Manager will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing the Environmental and Social standards at the company. This will include developing an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) at corporate level, as well as coordinating E&S matters at project level. The role will ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards (PS), local regulations, and internal policies, while acting as the primary liaison with lenders, investors, and stakeholders on E&S matters.

The E&S Manager will lead the development of E&S policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring their integration into project lifecycle—from conception to operation. They will also oversee E&S reporting, due diligence, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will also include acting as primary liaison within the group for compliance, anti-money laundering and quality matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy & Standard Development

• Develop and maintain a corporate ESMS aligned with IFC Performance Standards (PS1-PS8) and local regulations. This will include:

• Framework for E&S risk screening at project entry

• Project ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) standards, associated Terms of

Reference template and baseline data requirements

• ESMP (Environmental and Social Management Plan) standards

• Land Acquisition and Resettlement Policy

• Stakeholder engagement and community consultation protocols

• Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) standards

• Draft and implement corporate E&S policies, including:

• Red Line Policy (excluded activities list).

• Labour & Contractor Management Standard (OHS, non-discrimination, GBVH, child/forced labour

prohibitions).

• Supplier Ethical Policy & Supply Chain Management Procedure (modern slavery, transparency,

termination rights).

• Implement the ESMS, E&S policies and internal standards, including raising awareness and training relevant teams

• Oversee internal and external audits to ensure the company complies with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and CSR standards and regulations

• Develop corrective action plans in case of incidents, non-compliances, or complaints, and ensure follow-up to prevent recurrence

E&S Management of projects

• Supervise E&S due diligence for new projects, acquisitions, and divestments.

• Ensure projects comply with E&S requirements before key milestones (screening, feasibility studies, land acquisition, etc.)

• Develop and maintain company register to track action, evidence, and open items of project-level ESAP (Environmental & Social Action Plan)

• Develop and monitor Buyer E&S Screening Procedures for asset sales, ensuring alignment with legal agreements

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary point of contact for lenders, investors, partners and regulators on E&S queries

• Prepare annual E&S performance reports, ensuring alignment with legal agreements

• Ensure collection, consolidation and validation of the Group’s CSR data, and implement based on findings

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related fields

• 5+ years of experience in E&S consulting or related fields

• Expertise with IFC Performance Standards (PS1-PS8)

• Experience with ESMP development and implementation, exposure to international lenders is appreciated

• Experience with infrastructure or renewable energy projects (stakeholder engagement, land acquisition, ESIA, etc.)

Skills

• Fluency in English (written and spoken), ability to work in an international environment

• Fluency in Vietnamese (written and spoken) would be a strong plus

• Strong analytical, synthesis and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
