Country Director (NGO)

Role Purpose
The Country Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and high-level representation for an international organization’s operations in
Vietnam. This role is responsible for executing global strategies locally, ensuring legal compliance, managing risk, and strengthening government and stakeholder relations to ensure impactful program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Leadership & Culture: Guide country-wide operations, facilities, and staff; foster a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive workplace culture while managing organizational change and risk mitigation.
• Operations & Compliance: Oversee legal, regulatory, and labor compliance under Vietnamese law; manage internal governance, contracts, procurement, and business continuity plans.
• Government Relations & Advocacy: Act as the senior local spokesperson; build and maintain strategic partnerships with government authorities, NGOs, and civil society to advance organizational policy and reputation.
• Financial & Resource Stewardship: Accountable for country-level budgeting, financial forecasting, controls, and internal/external audits in coordination with global finance teams.
• Program & Matrix Collaboration: Ensure local projects align with global standards; collaborate across international functional lines (HR,
Finance, Programs) to integrate core institutional values into daily operations.

Yêu cầu công việc

• Experience: 10+ years of senior executive or country leadership experience within the non-profit, development, conservation, or related sectors. Proven track record in matrix management, stakeholder negotiation, and managing large, diverse teams.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Vietnamese legal framework governing international NGOs, labor laws, financial controls, and local policy processes. Knowledge of conservation or welfare issues is highly desirable.
• Skills: Exceptional cross-cultural leadership, strategic problem-solving, budget management, and professional public representation skills.
• Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Policy, International Development, Law, or a related field.
• Languages: Fluent in both English and Vietnamese.
