Costing Mini Marker Maker & Print Engineer

Maggy London, a leading women’s dress brand based in NYC, is seeking a highly skilled Costing Mini Marker Maker & Print Engineer to join our Technical Design & Production team.

This critical role bridges creative vision and technical execution, ensuring our prints align beautifully with garment patterns while optimizing fabric usage and cost.

Key Responsibilities

● Engineer prints for dresses by collaborating closely with designers to ensure aesthetic alignment and technical feasibility.

● Create mini markers with precise measurements, placement notes, borders, and screen sizes.

● Reengineer fabric layouts to maximize yardage efficiency without compromising design integrity.

● Translate design concepts into accurate print layouts and repeats that align with style specifications.

● Advise on pattern adjustments, including changes to grain lines, piece rotation, splits, or modifications based on print repeat size.

● Understand the impact of grading on marker making and costing across size scales.

● Partner with CAD artists and the creative team to deliver engineered prints that meet brand and customer expectations.

● Apply deep fabric knowledge to advise on color limits, screen printing constraints, and placement join lines.

● Work with cutting and spreading teams to ensure correct execution of engineered placement prints

Required Skills & Experience

● Minimum 3–5 years of experience in marker making and print engineering for apparel, preferably dresses.

● Strong knowledge of print repeat sizes, pattern making, and garment construction.

● Proficiency in Lectra Diamino is preferred (training will be provided if experienced in similar platforms).

● Excellent spatial and visual thinking – ability to translate creative ideas into efficient, printable formats.

● Strong communication skills to work cross-functionally with design, CAD, and production teams.

● Highly organized with sharp attention to detail and a deep understanding of garment costing impacts.

Bonus If You Have

● Experience with fashion brands that work with placement prints and engineered fabric layouts.

● Knowledge of multiple CAD systems or digital printing tools.

● Exposure to cost optimization techniques in pre-production.
