Chief Accountant

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management

• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure effective and efficient financial operations.

• Monitor financial performance, analyze financial data, and provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.

• Prepare financial reports, including: Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, Budget Variance Analysis

• Prepare and submit financial reports required by Regional/Group Finance in accordance with reporting requirements and deadlines.

• Coordinate with Regional Finance and relevant stakeholders on financial reporting, accounting matters, and other finance-related activities.

• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts and funding requests when required.

• Conduct regular financial reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures.

2. Accounting Operations

• Review payment transactions and supporting documents to ensure accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with company policies.

• Expense management

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting data and records in accordance with applicable accounting principles and company policies.

• Provide necessary accounting data, reconciliations, and supporting documents to the external accounting service provider for statutory reporting and other accounting requirements.

• Review and reconcile: Financial Statements, Bank Statements, General Ledger Accounts

• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process.

3. Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor the accounting team by providing guidance, coaching, training, and performance feedback.

• Allocate resources effectively, assign tasks, and monitor work progress to ensure timely completion of accounting activities.

• Foster a collaborative and positive working environment while encouraging teamwork and professional development.

4. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements

• Ensure compliance with Vietnamese accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and other applicable local regulations.

• Oversee local statutory accounting and ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of statutory financial statements and regulatory reports.

• Stay updated on changes in accounting and tax regulations and communicate necessary adjustments to relevant stakeholders.

• Coordinate with government authorities, external auditors, and tax consultants when required.

5. Systems & Process Improvement

• Evaluate existing accounting systems, ERP, and processes to ensure effectiveness and accuracy.

• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounting data maintained in the ERP/accounting system.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and system utilization.

• Implement enhancements to streamline accounting operations and improve efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Business Understanding:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Chief Accountant Certificate, or General Accountant qualification with ongoing Chief Accountant certification.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting role.

• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards, local accounting regulations, and Vietnamese tax laws.

• Experience with accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail and integrity.

• Good command of written and spoken Vietnamese and English.

• Experience with Big 4 accounting firms is an advantage.

• ACCA, CPA, or other relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
