Automotive Interior Design Expert

Job Purpose: Lead the design and development of vehicle interior components/systems, including the Instrument Panel, seats, headliner, and related interior.

• Define engineering requirements, design standards, technical specifications, and performance targets for interior systems.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Styling Design, Body/Structure, Electrical & Electronics, HVAC, Safety, and CAE/Simulation, to ensure proper product integration.

• Analyze 3D design data, overall vehicle packaging, ergonomics, Human–Machine Interface (HMI), assembly feasibility, and serviceability/maintainability.

• Control quality, cost, weight, and development timing targets for interior systems.

• Support design reviews, prototype build, trial production, issue resolution, engineering release/handoff, and mass-production development.

• Research, update, and propose the application of new technologies and trends in automotive interior design, such as Digital Cockpit, Modular Center Console, HMI, new materials, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other related disciplines.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive interior system design and development.

• Experience in designing major interior components such as instrument panel, seats, headliner, or related systems.

• Candidates with experience working in foreign automotive corporations/groups, especially from China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, etc., are preferred.

Age & Health:

• From 35 to 45 years old.

• Good health condition.

• Strong system thinking and cross-functional integration capability;

• Ability to provide technical leadership and guide engineering teams.

Professional Competency, Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of the structure and design principles of automotive interior systems.

• Solid knowledge of plastics, composites, soft trim, leather, foam, assembly processes, and interior manufacturing technologies.

• Good knowledge of Vehicle Packaging, Vehicle Integration, Ergonomics, HMI, NVH, and interior safety requirements.

• Good understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, GD&T, and automotive product development processes.

• Strong understanding of automotive interior quality standards.

• Proficient in CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX; good command of PLM systems such as Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or equivalent.
