Job Summary: 

The Android Framework & Platform Systems Engineer will govern operating system customization, security hardening, wireless/telematics connectivity, and low-level hardware abstraction layers, bridging vehicle hardware network buses with cockpit visualizations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

UI Framework & Window Management: Customize AOSP SystemUI and Launcher for multi-display environments; optimize WMS, DMS, and SurfaceFlinger to eliminate screen blackouts and stuttering.

AAOS & VHAL Customization: Extend Android Automotive CarService layers and design custom AIDL/HIDL interfaces to bridge system services with the Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL).

Connectivity & Telematics Middleware: Configure the AOSP Bluetooth stack and Wireless Network Stack (netd) for automotive profiles; extend Telephony for emergency call systems (E-Call/B-Call).

Native Daemons & Cluster Integration: Build C++ native daemons and Binder IPC pipelines to process Steering Wheel Switch (SWS) inputs and stream telemetry data to Digital Instrument Clusters.

Security, Build Systems & OTA: Author SELinux policies, customize update_engine for secure A/B OTA updates, and resolve official Google compliance failures (CTS, VTS, GTS).

Customization & Branding: Design Runtime Resource Overlays (RROs) and Static Resource Overlays (SROs) via idmap2 to implement OEM branding without modifying core code paths.

Your Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical technical discipline.

1 to 6+ years of experience in embedded software engineering, heavily focused on AOSP framework customization, system security hardening, or telematics middleware.

Advanced programming skills in C++ and Java, alongside deep expertise in AIDL/HIDL interface design and custom Binder IPC pipeline creation.

Solid comprehension of internal AOSP initialization sequences (init scripting), partition layouts, cryptographic filesystem mounting, secure boot authentication schemes, and OTA payload generation.

Expertise in managing pre-compiled APK integrations and resource target packages within the Android build system using Android.bp and Android.mk.

Proficiency in low-level platform debugging using interactive shells, kernel message logging (dmesg), logcat, dumpsys, and heap profiling utilities.

Preferred Assets: Direct experience on automotive system architectures like the Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P platform or working with virtualization tools (QEMU, Android Emulator codebase).
