The Technical Training Team Manager is responsible for leading the Technical Trainer group and ensuring that all technical onboarding, software induction, and practical training programs are delivered consistently and effectively, and aligned with customer and operational requirements.

This role manages the technical trainers across Drafting, Estimating, and Component Structure Design. The role ensures the quality of training delivery, trainer capability, curriculum practicality, assessment fairness, and consistency in learner readiness outcomes. It also works with Operations, Technical Development Managers (TDMs), Team Managers, and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure training reflects real work requirements and prepares staff for customer-specific trial work or deployment.

Roles, Responsibilities & Typical Activities

Technical Training Leadership

- Lead technical trainers and ensure delivery of agreed training programs.

- Plan trainer allocation across cohorts, streams, and business priorities.

- Monitor training quality, learner engagement, and completion progress.

- Ensure training sessions include practical exercises, real-world scenarios, and relevant customer/team context.

- Coach trainers to improve facilitation, content design, and assessment quality.

Readiness & Assessment Governance

- Ensure trainers apply consistent assessment methods and readiness criteria.

- Review learner performance and readiness recommendations before Manager review.

- Identify recurring skill gaps and recommend adjustments to training content or delivery approach.

- Support role-fit discussions for trainees based on observed technical ability and learning performance.

Technical Curriculum Quality

- Review and approve technical content developed by trainers before use.

- Ensure training materials are current, practical, and aligned with Operations' needs.

- Work with the Operation Teams and SMEs to align technical content with learning standards.

- Coordinate with TDMs and SMEs to validate technical accuracy.

Stakeholder Collaboration

- Partner with Operations Managers, Team Managers, Team Leaders, and Tech. Specialist to understand operational expectations.

- Gather input on customer work requirements, software needs, and practical competency standards.

- Ensure training prepares staff for the next stage of customer-specific training or trial work.

Team Leadership & Development

- Coach technical trainers and support their development pathways.

- Manage workload distribution and performance expectations.

- Build a culture of learner focus, quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications / Experience

- 3+ years of experience in a similar role.

- Experience leading technical staff, trainers, team leads, or capability development activities.

- Strong experience in at least one relevant technical discipline such as drafting, estimating, product design, component structure design, or construction services.

- Experience working with operational stakeholders to define technical expectations.

- Preferred: experience in technical development, operations, customer delivery, or training environment.
