Steel & Welding QC Supervisor / Giám Sát Chất Lượng Sắt Hàn

Damen Song Cam Shipyard is engineering, outfitting, commissioning and delivering various Damen standard ship types. Basic designs and most components are delivered to DSCS by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. DSCS will complete the detailed design, and production information, which will be used during the assembly of the vessels. The Quality Control (QC) department is securing quality in a way that supports maximum efficiency of the production activity. QC is an important initiator of product and process improvements.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

Perform inspections and monitor inspection processes and tests related to production activities: Hull construction and welding. Secure the quality of steelwork and welding activity in DSCS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Pre-inspection

- Review contract documentation/specifications/quality plans to identify the quality requirements and documentation deliverables.

- Advise to develop an Inspection Test Plan (ITP) Hull part and necessary QC procedures when required

- Review a traceability of materials, storage conditions, hull building / construction material and welding consumables

- Review Non Destructive Testing (NDT) plan approval by Class

- Review of welder qualification, WPS, WPQ

• Material inspection

- Inspect the quality of incoming raw material and products related to steel and welding.

• Hull construction Inspection

- Carry out welding inspections at all stages of the process

- Fit-Up Inspection (Including surveillance of pre-heat requirements)

- In-Process Welding Inspection

- Coordinating NDT process and witness NDT work

- Final Visual Inspection of Completed Welds.

• Testing

- Testing ( Leak Test / Pressure test)

• Quality awareness

- Investigate identified quality issues and develop effective corrective actions and initiate actions to avoid future error

- Advise production to improve a steel construction and welding activities

- Issue a Non-conformity report (NCR), quality observation report and outstanding items. Follow up when items are done by relative department to close, giving repair advice where necessary.

• Communication

- Contact with Project team and Class Societies for verification of production activities

• QC documents

- Maintain inspection reports

- Update and distribute project inspection progress report and Outstanding item list

- Managing all documents work / test report / material certificates

- Manage and store technical acceptance documents of nominated projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Graduated university, major in Shipbuilding / Marine / Welding Engineering

- English language and computer skills

Experience

- Independent working

- 1-3 years related work experience in shipyard environment.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Expertise

- Material characteristics and welding consumables

- Knowledge in steel construction and welding activities

- Capable to develop and review welding procedure specification (WPS), welder performance qualification (WPQ)

- Knowledge and understanding of the shipbuilding processes and the Classification Societies rules, IACS rules and international regulations

- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings

Communication

- Effective communication, taking into account the level of the parties that is being communicated with.

- Intermediary knowledge in English - written and verbal communication

Vision/Overview

- Managing situations and processes based on time, being able to spot issues and solving these with a careful eye for consequences.

Planning & organizing

- Prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within set time frames
