THE ROLE

WeCare Group is Vietnam’s leading B2B industrial supplies distribution platform, processing over 100,000 orders/month across nationwide manufacturing and hardware retail channels.

As part of rebuilding our core ERP platform on Google Cloud Platform, we are constructing a modern, trustworthy Analytics Platform from scratch. In our legacy system, blurring the line between operational databases (OLTP) and analytical reporting (OLAP) led to severe operational costs. In this new architecture, the OLTP/OLAP boundary is a core design principle—and you will completely own the OLAP side.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will build and govern the entire analytics foundation: CDC pipelines moving operational data into BigQuery, dbt transformation models, data verification gates, and the semantic/KPI layer that management relies on to run the business (sales by province, logistics costs, AR aging, cash reconciliation, etc.).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design dataset structures, partitioning/clustering strategies, access controls, and query cost management on Google BigQuery.
• Own Change Data Capture (CDC) replication from Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) into BigQuery using Datastream.
• Build, optimize, and maintain modular transformation pipelines using dbt (models, automated testing, lineage, and documentation).
• Establish the semantic layer and BI tools (Lightdash or equivalent) to deliver business-critical metrics for operations, finance, and executive leadership.
• Implement strict data quality checks—monitoring data freshness, schema evolution, and automated reconciliation tests against upstream source databases.
• Design and execute PII classification, data masking, and role-based access controls across the analytical layer.

Your Skills and Experience

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems Data Science, Data Engineering, Applied Mathematics or relevant. 
• 4+ years of dedicated experience in Data Engineering, with hands-on production experience in BigQuery.
• Production-grade dbt experience, advanced data modeling, testing, docs.
• Exceptional SQL skills and deep expertise in Dimensional Modeling / Data Warehousing patterns.
• Strong understanding of Change Data Capture architectures, replication trade-offs, and streaming vs. batch processing.
• Professional English, required for writing Architecture Decision Records, system design docs, and data dictionaries.

NICE TO HAVE

• Semantic layer/ BI tooling (Lightdash, Looker, Metabase)
• Finance or accounting data experience (reconciliation, ledgers)
• Streaming pipelines, Vertex AI
• E-commerce, ERP, or logistics domain experience, architecture decision records, design docs, runbooks
• AI-native engineering: agent-assisted implementation, gated by deterministic verification (tests, linters, evals)
• Issue tracking in Linear; docs-as-code.
