Systra, world leading transport engineering company for urban and rail projects, has been awarded the Project Implementation Consultancy for the Hanoi Pilot Metro Line (Nhon – Hanoi Railway Station) by the Hanoi Metropolitan Rail Transport Project Board. Under this contract, Systra will be in charge of supervision of construction and installation. Currently, the Elevated Stations Package has been awarded to a Construction Company, and civil work activities will start on site.

In order to carry out the supervision mission efficiently, Systra is looking for a professional and competent Vietnamese national staff who can fill the following vacant position for its Hanoi based project office.

Safety Engineer:

Within the project supervision team, and under the responsibility of the Project manager and the HSE Manager, the Safety Engineer will be in charge of:

• Ensure that construction safety standards are understood and implemented on the project.

• Schedule and conduct HSE inspections.

• Coordinate with contractors’ station HSE staff.

• Establish and maintain project HSE administration.

• Assist in the investigation of significant incidents and accidents.

• Reporting unsafe conditions or acts to PIC HSE Manager

• Conducting weekly audits and construction trend analysis

• To correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority;

• Ensure all site personnel are HSE inducted;

• Effective participation in weekly HSE inspections / Monthly Safety Tour inspections.

• Reportable to the PIC HSE Manager and shall be responsible for defined project station and for communicating instructions to contractors HSE Officer as required.

• Act as immediate HSE Line Manager and assist and report to PIC HSSE Manager on all forms of HSE matters.

• Supervise and support station safety training.

• Advise the station management team on matters in respect of safety requirements and station implementation.

• Carry out a scheduled station inspection at least once per week accompanied by the station construction team.

• Assist the contractors HSE teams in planning emergency evacuation and fire drills at least once every month at the Site Safety officer’s supervised project site.

• Assist Station Managers, Safety Inspectors, Site Engineers, Foremen and Supervisors in their daily activity briefings, safety toolbox meetings (TBM) and safety coaching of the work force.

- The Safety Engineer shall have bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or equivalent. A good English level is mandatory.
