Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to manage product and supplier quality activities from development through shipment. This individual contributor role combines hands-on factory inspection with quality engineering, problem-solving, supplier improvement, clear reporting, and cross-functional coordination. The position is office-based in Ho Chi Minh City and requires frequent factory visits across Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities
On-site Inspection
• Personally conduct on-site inspections for development and approval samples, pilot runs, in-process production, and pre-shipment lots. Coverage includes helmets as a core product type, together with other hardgoods, footwear, apparel, bags, hats/headwear, and soft protective gear.
• Verify materials and components, appearance and workmanship, dimensions and fit, construction or assembly, function and performance, labeling, and packaging against approved drawings, specifications, samples, and quality standards.
• Apply appropriate inspection methods for each product, including helmet and hardgoods measurements and functional checks, as well as footwear and sewn-product checks for materials, cutting, sewing, bonding, seams, stitches, trims, attachments, symmetry, sizing, and fit.
• Select representative samples and apply approved AQL plans, defect classifications, inspection levels, and acceptance criteria in accordance with company procedures.
• Use suitable measuring and test equipment, record objective evidence, and issue accurate inspection reports with findings, photographs, test results, and disposition recommendations.
• Immediately escalate critical safety, compliance, quality, or shipment risks and recommend containment, sorting, rework, re-inspection, hold, or shipment stop as appropriate.
Quality Engineering & Supplier Quality
• Support quality execution from product development and sample approval through pilot builds, mass production, and shipment readiness.
• Provide quality input on design and process risks, tolerances, materials, construction, critical-to-quality characteristics, test methods, and inspection feasibility.
• Evaluate samples and pilot runs; track First Pass Yield (FPY), defects, process readiness, and corrective actions before mass production.
• Develop and maintain risk-based inspection plans, sampling plans, checklists, defect classifications, workmanship standards, and factory control requirements.
• Review factory self-inspection records, verify critical controls, and coach supplier teams on defect recognition, measurement methods, in-line quality gates, and prevention of repeat issues.
• Lead follow-up of non-conformities, containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness verification using structured methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D.
• Support supplier qualification, risk reviews, quality-system and manufacturing-capability audits, compliance activities, and supplier improvement projects as assigned.
• Analyze inspection results, defect trends, FPY, supplier performance, and NCR/CAPA status; prepare concise reports and dashboards for management review.
Education Education • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Textile/Garment, Industrial or Operations Management, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered. Language • English: Professional proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking; clear written reporting is essential. • Vietnamese: Required. • Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese): An advantage. Experience • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, supplier quality, product transfer, manufacturing quality, or hands-on product inspection, preferably in an OEM/ODM or brand-sourcing environment. • Demonstrated experience conducting factory inspections at sample, pilot, in-process, and pre-shipment stages. • Strong hardgoods inspection experience; helmet or protective-equipment experience is highly preferred. • Practical knowledge or hands-on inspection experience with helmet, footwear, apparel, bags, headwear, or sewn protective products is preferred. • Experience with NPI, sample and pilot-run review, mass-production quality control, supplier issue resolution, and corrective-action follow-up. • Working knowledge of AQL sampling, defect classification, ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or ISO 2859-1, and basic ISO 9001 quality-management principles. Technical Knowledge • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tolerances, bills of materials, approved samples, workmanship standards, and test requirements. • Able to assess hardgoods, helmet, footwear, apparel, and sewn-product workmanship using appropriate measuring tools and product-specific inspection methods. • Familiarity with applicable product safety, compliance, restricted-substance, labeling, and packaging requirements is preferred. • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, SPC, or process-capability concepts is an advantage. Skills & Work Conditions • Office-based in Ho Chi Minh City with frequent travel to supplier factories across Vietnam and occasional travel within Southeast Asia. • Proficient in managing cross-cultural communication in a global environment. • Able to work independently in factory environments and adjust working hours during critical production or shipment periods. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, communication, and report-writing skills, with high ownership and attention to evidence and detail. • Able to be firm and persuasive with suppliers while maintaining constructive professional relationships and following issues through closure. • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Power BI is an advantage.Yêu cầu công việc
