Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plastics Specialist to support the development,
selection, testing, and optimization of plastic materials and manufacturing processes. The ideal
candidate has several years of experience in plastics engineering or manufacturing and can work
independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, production
efficiency, and material performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Select, evaluate, and recommend plastic materials based on product performance, cost, and
manufacturing requirements.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to plastic materials, molding processes, and finished
products.
• Plan and perform material testing, validate results, and prepare technical reports.
• Support new product development through material selection, prototype evaluation, and
process validation.
• Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with
customer and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce scrap, and optimize cycle
times.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, suppliers, and customers to resolve
technical issues.
• Develop and maintain material specifications, processing guidelines, and technical
documentation.
• Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
(CAPA).
• Mentor entry-level team members and provide technical guidance as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management standards.
Req Required • Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. • 3–5 years of experience in plastics manufacturing, materials engineering, product development, or process engineering. • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, material properties, and manufacturing processes. • Experience with process troubleshooting and quality improvement initiatives. • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and test data. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical documentation. • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred • Experience with injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, or rotational molding. • Familiarity with material testing methods and laboratory equipment. • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies. • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis tools. • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
