Estimating Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering structured training programs that build foundational capability in estimating, quantity take-off, and customer-facing production workflows. The role prepares staff to understand practical estimating processes, product-specific design expectations, and the technical judgment required before they progress to Operations or customer-specific training.

The role converts product design and estimating knowledge into practical learning modules, exercises, assessment tasks, and coaching activities. It ensures learners understand not only software or calculation steps, but also the logic behind estimating, quantifying, and customer process expectations.

Roles, Responsibilities & Typical Activities

Training Delivery

- Deliver Estimating and relevant practical onboarding modules.

- Facilitate practical estimating, quantity take-off, and product design exercises.

- Train learners on workflow logic, basic customer requirements, and common production expectations.

- Deliver workshops, hands-on practice, coaching sessions, and assessment preparation.

- Support learners to build confidence in applying estimating principles to practical scenarios.

Curriculum & Material Development

- Develop and maintain training materials for product design and estimating.

- Create practical tasks that simulate customer or operational scenarios.

- Build assessments that measure practical readiness, not only theoretical knowledge.

- Update content based on operational feedback, customer requirements, and process changes.

- Work with the Operations team to structure and store content.

Assessment & Continuous Improvement

- Identify common capability gaps in estimating, quantifying or product design understanding.

- Provide improvement recommendations to the Technical Training Team Manager

- Review learner feedback and assessment results to improve training effectiveness.

- Support improvement of training pathways for different estimating/product design streams.

Collaboration

- Work with Operations, Team Managers, Team Leaders, Technical Specialists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure training aligns with customer expectations.

- Support readiness discussions and role-fit recommendations where estimating/product design capability is relevant.

- Share insights on learner capability, recurring errors, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications / Experience

- 2+ years’ relevant experience

- Experience in estimating, quantity take-off, product design, or customer-facing production work.

- Experience coaching, mentoring, or training others.

Preferred:

- Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant drafting software is an advantageous skill.

- Experience in one or more areas such as Kitchen, HVAC, MEP, product-specific design, or building services is a plus.

Technical knowledge and skills

- Estimating principles and quantification methods.

- Training delivery and assessment design.

- Analytical thinking and accuracy.

- Ability to convert technical knowledge into structured learning materials.

- Construction terminology and plan reading.
