The Cluster “Environment and Climate Change” currently comprises a total of four teams in the thematic areas of climate policy, climate and agriculture coast and water, biodiversity and forests. The latter includes the project “Management and Protection of Protected areas with diverse ecosystems in Viet Nam” (MEPA), and “Forest Support Programme” (FSP). The projects are implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE). The projects are funded by BMZ and the EU and implemented by GIZ together with the Viet Nam Forestry Administration to enhance regulatory, institutional and technical capacities for implementing integrated management of forests at a landscape level.
The projects are looking for a qualified and professional local candidate to fill the following position:
Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist “Foresty and Biodiversity”
Duty station: Hanoi, Viet Nam
Duration: Staring from 01/10/2026 for a 3 years contract
Main responsibilities and tasks:
• A monitoring system is established, able to track the indicators of the two projects, with the ability to fed joint reports as well as separate reporting formats to the donors and the political partners.
• All team members are enabled to fulfill their roles in the M&E system.
• Lead the development of the monitoring and evaluation system of the projects in coordination with the team
• Prepare the surveys to measure some of the project’s indicators
• Support the monitoring of project implementation activities and progress at provincial and national levels
• Responsible for data entry processes, including the quality control
• Responsible for the maintenance and quality control of the case management
• Responsible for onboarding and integrating partners and team members into relevant monitoring activities
• Support the preparation of communication materials for the project
• Other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Minimum requirements Minimum requirements: • Bachelor's degree (as minimum) or equivalent in a relevant field such as business administration, economics, industrial engineering, statistics, international development or other disciplines • At least 10 years of professional experience in the field of M&E, with specific experience in natural resource and land use projects • Experience in developing M&E concepts for development cooperation projects • Knowledge of a variety of ICT-based applications for data collection • Particular knowledge of common digital tools for monitoring (in GIZ) • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical software • Experience in developing and maintaining a user interface for displaying monitoring data results • Ability to work in a team and ensure self-organisation of work packages • Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, diplomatic skills, as well as creative problem-solving abilities and initiative • Very good understanding of the topics covered by the project including forest protection, forest management, forest-based value chains, biodiversity conservation and climate change • Excellent writing skills in Vietnamese and English GIZ is committed to create an appreciative work environment, irrespective of age, ethnic background and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation and social background.
