JOB PURPOSE

The Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing end-to-end production and material planning activities across four manufacturing facilities, ensuring effective alignment between customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and delivery commitments.

This position plays a critical role in driving Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and inventory optimization to achieve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will lead the Planning team, coordinate cross-functional activities, ensure planning data accuracy in SAP HANA, and proactively resolve demand-supply challenges to support business growth and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Production Planning

Manage and coordinate the monthly S&OP process, ensuring effective alignment between demand forecasts, production capacity, and supply capabilities.

Consolidate demand forecasts from Commercial/Sales teams and production capacity information from manufacturing operations.

Develop, maintain, and execute weekly and monthly Master Production Schedules (MPS) across four manufacturing facilities.

Monitor production schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans to address demand fluctuations, capacity constraints, and operational disruptions.

Lead daily production planning meetings with Production Managers to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing schedules.

Identify potential demand-supply gaps and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Ensure production planning activities support customer delivery commitments and overall business objectives.

2. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Inventory Management

Oversee Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities to ensure timely availability of raw materials and production supplies.

Work closely with Procurement to align material purchasing schedules with production requirements.

Monitor inventory levels, stock availability, and material consumption to minimize shortages and excess inventory.

Establish and review safety stock levels and reorder points to optimize inventory performance.

Manage material shortages, emergency orders, and material substitutions to minimize production disruptions.

Coordinate with Procurement, Warehouse, and Quality teams to resolve material-related issues.

Drive inventory optimization initiatives to improve inventory turnover and reduce slow-moving stock.

3. Customer Delivery and Supply Chain Coordination

Monitor On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance and ensure alignment between production schedules and customer requirements.

Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service teams to review customer orders and delivery commitments.

Manage Available-to-Promise (ATP) requests and provide timely feedback regarding production and delivery capabilities.

Collaborate with Logistics teams to ensure timely shipment arrangements.

Address urgent customer requirements and delivery challenges through effective cross-functional coordination.

Identify delivery risks and implement corrective actions to maintain customer satisfaction.

4. Planning Team Management and Development

Lead, manage, and develop a Planning team of approximately 8–12 employees, including Planning Supervisors, Production Planners, and SAP Data Entry personnel.

Establish clear objectives, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.

Provide coaching, guidance, and technical support to improve planning capabilities and operational effectiveness.

Conduct regular performance reviews and identify opportunities for employee development.

Develop succession plans and strengthen the team's technical competencies.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Planning function.

5. SAP System and Planning Data Management

Ensure accuracy and integrity of planning data within SAP HANA.

Oversee master data management, including Bill of Materials (BOM), routing, and production lead times.

Monitor the effectiveness of SAP planning modules and ensure proper execution of planning activities.

Collaborate with IT to enhance planning reports, dashboards, and data visibility.

Utilize advanced Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools to support planning decisions.

Identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy and efficiency through digitalization and automation.

6. Process Improvement and Operational Excellence

Review and continuously improve production planning processes, procedures, and systems.

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for planning activities.

Drive Lean and Kaizen initiatives to reduce operational inefficiencies and improve productivity.

Collaborate with cross-functional departments to implement process improvement projects.

Establish and monitor planning KPIs to ensure continuous performance improvement.

1. Education

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or related disciplines.

Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA is an advantage.

2. Professional Experience

Minimum 7 years of experience in Production Planning, Supply Chain Planning, or related functions within manufacturing environments.

At least 2 years of experience in a Senior Planner, Planning Supervisor, or Planning Manager position.

Proven experience in managing Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).

Hands-on experience in production planning, inventory management, and capacity planning.

Experience managing a team of approximately 5–10 Planners or Planning Supervisors.

Experience working in export-oriented manufacturing companies serving multiple international markets.

Experience in continuous manufacturing or multi-product manufacturing environments.

3. Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of S&OP, MPS, MRP, demand planning, and supply chain management.

Solid understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory optimization.

Experience working with ERP systems; SAP HANA Planning modules (PP/MM/SD) are highly preferred.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and Power Query.

Basic knowledge of Power BI and data analytics.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex demand-supply challenges.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.

5. Language Requirements

Vietnamese: Native proficiency.

English: Good working proficiency, with the ability to communicate with international customers and suppliers and understand business documents.
