Role Overview

We're looking for a Staff Engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems who can drive end-to-end delivery across architecture, development, SRE, and DevOps. You'll design solutions that span system boundaries, collaborate with senior engineers and architects, lead incident triage across microservices ecosystems, and serve as a trusted technical interface with clients.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & System Design

● Architect scalable distributed systems across multiple services and domains

● Produce high-quality technical design documents covering trade-offs, integration patterns, and service contracts

● Partner with Architects and Principal Engineers to build cohesive system components

● Embed disaster recovery, high availability, and fault tolerance as core design principles

Technical Leadership & Delivery

● Own end-to-end delivery of critical initiatives from planning to production

● Make high-impact technical decisions where system failures carry direct business or financial consequences

● Mentor and influence engineering direction through hands-on expertise — without line management authority

Incident Management & Reliability

● Lead incident triage across distributed services, including those outside your direct ownership

● Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure long-term fixes are implemented, not just workarounds

Client & Stakeholder Communication

● Act as the primary technical communicator during incidents and escalations

● Write structured RCAs that work for both business stakeholders and technical leadership

● Build trust through clarity, ownership, and transparency

DevOps / SRE

● Champion CI/CD best practices and automation across the engineering lifecycle

● Maintain high reliability, uptime, and performance through strong SRE practices

AI-Assisted Engineering

● Integrate AI tools into planning, design, development, and debugging workflows

● Strong Java and backend systems experience

● Proven ability to architect complex systems and produce clear technical designs

● Deep expertise in microservices, distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD

● Experience designing for high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance

● Track record across software development, SRE, and DevOps

● Strong debugging skills across complex, interconnected systems

● Experience leading incident response and writing detailed RCAs

● Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

● Self-driven, highly curious, with a founder mentality — high ownership, bias for action, comfortable with ambiguity
