About This Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to support quantity surveying, cost management, estimating, contract administration, and reporting activities across construction projects.

The role requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with drawings, cost data, contract documentation, and project information. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and high-quality work in accordance with Nexgenus standards, workflows, and procedures. Nexgenus will provide specific workflows, SOPs, and training for relevant tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Depreciation Schedule (TDS)

- Collect and prepare information and supporting documentation required for Tax Depreciation

Schedule assignments.

- Prepare depreciation schedules accurately in accordance with Nexgenus procedures.

- Clarify and respond to TDS queries or update requirements.

- Coordinate with the relevant team to maintain accurate job status updates.

2. Quantity Measurement

- Perform detailed quantity take-offs using CostX.

- Measure construction elements and trades across site works, buildings, fit-out, MEP, fire services, and infrastructure.

- Review and interpret planning drawings, construction drawings, consultant reports, survey plans, council requirements, and other relevant project documentation.

3. Estimating & Cost Planning

- Obtain, maintain, and update rates for materials, trades, labour, plant, and equipment.

- Prepare cost plans and tender estimates.

- Prepare schedules of rates for common construction trades.

- Assist in determining provisional sums for specialist or undefined works where required.

4. Contract Administration

- Review contract documentation, project budgets, and construction programs.

- Prepare and manage project documentation including:

o Requests for Information (RFI);

o Extensions of Time (EOT).

- Assess progress claims and variations based on available project and site information.

- Identify cost, scope, or contractual issues and escalate them where required.

5. Reporting

- Prepare professional Quantity Surveying reports and project documentation using Nexgenus standard templates.

- Ensure all reports are accurate, logically structured, consistent, and professionally presented.

- Review documents carefully to ensure information is relevant and appropriately adapted to each project.

- Maintain high standards of document quality, formatting, and presentation.

6. Site Progress Review

- Review and analyse construction progress using site photographs and other available project information.

- Monitor project progress against relevant project programs where required.

- Prepare photographic records and supporting pages for reports and appendices.

- Physical site attendance is generally not required for this role.

7. Cost Analysis

- Prepare cost analyses using Nexgenus standard templates.

- Collect and maintain historical project cost data.

- Compare project costs against industry benchmark rates.

- Support the ongoing maintenance and annual review of cost analysis data.

8. Quality Management & Checking

- Thoroughly review and check all work before submission.

- Follow Nexgenus Quality Management procedures and checking requirements.

- Complete document mark-ups and required quality control documentation.

- Ensure all deliverables meet required standards for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and presentation.

Skills & Experiences

- 5+ years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Estimating, Cost Management, or a similar construction-related role.

- Previous experience working on Australian construction projects or with the Australian market is required

- Strong experience in quantity take-off, estimating, cost planning, and cost analysis.

- Good understanding of contract administration, including progress claims, variations, RFI, and EOT processes.

- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, consultant reports, and other technical documentation.

- Proficiency in CostX or similar quantity surveying / estimating software.

- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Strong reporting and documentation skills.

- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with overseas managers, clients, and project stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.

- Strong quality-control mindset with the ability to review and check own work before submission.

- Ability to follow established workflows, SOPs, templates, and quality standards.

- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management, Civil

Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
