Job Purpose

Lead all shift production activities at the cement grinding and packing system of the Grinding Station. The Shift Leader makes sure the shift team follows work procedures and meets production volume, product dispatch and logistics targets, without compromising safety regulations, environmental policies or Vietnamese legislation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health, Safety & Environment

• Fully comply with OHS-PR-12 and the INSEE 5 H&S Rules; make sure employees, visitors, third-party providers and contractors follow all company QEHS policies, procedures and standards
• Control how the department’s annual H&S plan and environmental management objectives are carried out
• Manage housekeeping at the workplace
• Conduct SOT, TO and EOT observations and set action plans for improvement
• Take part in implementing FPE (Fatality Prevention Elements) as assigned
• Act as Emergency Response Team Commander for any incident during the shift

2. Production Control

• Make sure CCR operations follow operating instructions and troubleshooting procedures, and run equipment at optimum feed rate
• Use resources so that dispatch capacity is as high as possible and customer demand is met
• Control on-site activities and provide support resources on time, so that daily production and maintenance work is completed
• Coordinate with non-shift production staff to complete daily and weekly tasks
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and bring the plant back into operation as quickly as possible
• Analyse the root causes of in-shift issues (quality, feed rate, energy consumption, failures) and improve operations
• Make sure inspection checklists are completed as required

3. Product Quality Control

• Monitor cement quality during the shift and take corrective action
• Make sure CCR operators meet the quality parameters set by QA
• Coordinate with Maintenance to calibrate measuring and monitoring devices regularly
• Follow up on trials of new additives; monitor test results and adjust operating parameters

4. Cross-functional Coordination & Reporting

• Escalate serious equipment problems and emergencies to management
• Consolidate and report plant activities at shift handover; keep the log book and daily reports (DWOR, STOR) up to date
• Coordinate with Supply Chain on the logistics of raw materials and finished products
• Act as Plant Manager outside office hours
• Control progress and work quality during plant shutdowns; follow up on shutdown After Action Reviews (AAR)

5. People Management & Development

• Lead a team of 3 direct reports, within a section of 18 staff
• Set group KPIs and track how they are implemented
• Run the multi-skill training program (on-the-job training, rotation) and coach the team

Scope: ~500,000 tons of cement per year

Requirements

Education & Skills

• Diploma or higher in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• English communication (TOEIC 500 or equivalent)
• MS Office; working knowledge of SAP

Experience

• At least 3 years in the cement or heavy industry
• At least 2 years in a production supervisory role
