Overview

The Master Data Analyst is responsible for leading master data governance, quality, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities across Visy Logistics systems including CargoWise, Ramco, TMS, WMS, ERP and related platforms. This role focuses on executing and supporting data governance initiatives by managing the creation, cleansing, and maintenance of core datasets.

The role is accountable for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, integrity and accessibility of master data across business operations while driving process standardization, automation opportunities, reporting capabilities and project delivery. The analyst will work closely with business units and support the Master Data Manager to ensure consistent and accurate data is available for operations, commercial, finance and reporting and ensures master data practices to support business growth, operational excellence and future system readiness.

Key responsibilities

1. Master Data Governance

- Ensure all master data is created, maintained, and retired according to defined policies and standards.

- Establish and maintain master data governance frameworks, policies and standards.

- Ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory data requirements.

- Define master data ownership, controls and approval workflows.

- Lead initiatives to improve master data quality and consistency across business platforms.

- Develop data standards and governance documentation.

2.Data Quality Monitoring:

- Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve data inconsistencies or quality issues.

- Lead ongoing data audits and cleansing initiatives.

- Identify root causes of data quality issues and implement preventive controls.

- Monitor master data health across systems

- Drive continuous improvement of validation controls and approval processes.

3.Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

- Engagement: Liaise with business stakeholders to ensure requirements for master data are understood and implemented correctly.

- Act as the primary escalation point for complex master data issues.

- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance teams.

- Provide advice on master data structures, system configuration and business process impacts.

- Engage stakeholders early in project lifecycles toensure successful master data implementation.

4.Process Improvement & Automation:

- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process redesign and automation.  Productivity gains achieved.

- Drive enhancement of Master Data Directory, Power Apps and reporting platforms.

- Implement controls that reduce manual effort and prevent recurring errors.

- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility and decision-making.

5.Support Projects & Enhancements:

- Lead master data workstreams for system implementations, migrations and business transformation projects. .

- Coordinate data cleansing, mapping, validation and UAT activities.

- Ensure successful deployment of new master data structures and processes.

- Support CoE transition and business process transformation initiatives.

6.Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of data standards and processes; ensure compliance with data governance frameworks.

- Develop and maintain dashboards, governance reporting and KPI tracking.

- Analyse data trends and recommend improvement opportunities.

- Provide management reporting on: Data quality, Request volumes, SLA performance, Governance compliance, Team productivity…

Key requirements / profile of the incumbent

Experience and qualifications

Mandatory (critical for the role)

- 5-6 years' experience in Master Data Management, Business Systems or Data Governance roles, Analytics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related preferably within logistics or a related industry discipline.

- Minimum 2 years' experience leading teams, projects or functional workstreams.

- Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain or Sigma or Process Improvement qualifications.

- Experience working with enterprise systems ERP, TMS, WMS and enterprise data management.

- Advanced knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.

- Experience supporting business transformation projects, system implementations and data migrations

Desirable (preferable for the role)

- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related discipline.

- Experience with: Cargo Wise, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL or reporting tools; Lean, Six Sigma or Process Improvement qualifications (preferred).

Skills required

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy

- Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities

- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Familiarity with ERP, TMS, or WMS systems preferred

- Proficiency in English, Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of data validation techniques.
