Giáo Viên Khoa Học THCS - Secondary Science Teacher (MOET and MYP Programmes)

JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Teach Secondary Integrated Science in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) curriculum, integrated with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) framework and the School's educational plan; facilitate inquiry, research, exploration and practical laboratory activities that develop students' scientific thinking, problem-solving ability and application of Physics, Chemistry and Biology; and collaborate and co-teach with international teachers and relevant teams to enhance teaching and learning quality.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teach Secondary Integrated Science in accordance with the MOET curriculum, integrated with the IB MYP framework and the School's teaching plan

- Take direct responsibility for teaching Integrated Science to assigned grade levels, ensuring appropriate connections across Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

- Develop lesson plans and prepare learning materials, equipment, apparatus and chemicals for teaching, practical work and laboratory experiments.

- Design and facilitate appropriate inquiry, exploration, practical, laboratory and project-based activities that develop students' scientific thinking, problem-solving ability, knowledge, skills and personal qualities.

- Manage classrooms and laboratories; maintain a positive, safe and well-disciplined learning environment; and ensure students follow safety procedures in all practical activities.

- Differentiate teaching approaches, practical activities and learning resources to suit the abilities, learning needs and safety requirements of different student groups.

- Collaborate and co-teach with international teachers in accordance with professional plans and School assignments, progressively assuming full responsibility for the MYP Sciences programme in line with the School's staff-development roadmap.

- Perform other teaching duties as assigned.

2. Assess student learning and manage academic results

- Develop and administer assessments of subject knowledge, practical skills, scientific inquiry and application in accordance with MOET, IB MYP and School requirements.

- Mark students' work, learning products and practical/laboratory reports, and provide feedback on learning outcomes and progress.

- Update grades, comments and student learning records in the School's system within the required timelines.

- Monitor students' academic progress, behaviour and overall development, and coordinate with relevant teams to provide support when needed.

3. Undertake professional duties and educational activities

- Regularly review and keep abreast of changes to the Secondary Integrated Science curriculum:

• Under the MOET curriculum and guidelines, ensuring integration across Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

• Under the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Sciences framework, approaches to teaching and assessment requirements.

• In line with the School's educational plan and programme-integration direction.

- Contribute to the development and sharing of subject learning materials, question banks, practical guides, safety procedures and teaching resources.

- Organize or support practical work, laboratory experiments, experiential and extracurricular activities, science and STEM projects, and field trips in accordance with the School's plan.

- Collaborate in activities that develop students' scientific thinking, research skills, interdisciplinary application and problem-solving ability in an international education environment.

- Participate in School activities, events and initiatives as assigned.

4. Collaborate in teaching and student education

- Collaborate with School Leadership, the MYP Coordinator, international teachers and relevant teams; proactively communicate, plan and co-teach to ensure alignment between the MOET and MYP programmes.

- Communicate and coordinate with parents regarding students' learning and development when assigned.

- Participate fully in professional meetings, training and professional development activities organized by the School.

- Supervise students as assigned, including classroom duty, playground duty and extracurricular activities.

5. Maintain professional records and ensure compliance

- Maintain complete professional records, reports and required documentation, including records for equipment, apparatus, chemicals and laboratory safety, in accordance with MOET and School requirements.

- Prepare and provide records and supporting documents for inspections, audits and evaluations when required.

- Comply with the School's Safeguarding, school safety, laboratory safety, chemical management and internal policy requirements.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Education and Experience:

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Integrated Science Education; or a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics Education, Chemistry Education or Biology Education together with a certificate in teaching Integrated Science; or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Natural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or a related field, together with a teaching qualification and relevant subject-teaching certification as required by applicable regulations.

Experience

- At least two (02) years of experience teaching Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry or Biology at secondary level.

- Experience teaching Sciences within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

- Experience designing and facilitating practical activities, laboratory experiments, science projects or STEM activities.

- Experience co-teaching with international teachers.

- Experience working in a bilingual or international education environment.

Knowledge:

- Strong understanding of the MOET Secondary Integrated Science curriculum, teaching methodologies and assessment requirements.

- Sound subject knowledge and the ability to teach Physics, Chemistry and Biology in an integrated manner.

- Understanding of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework, teaching approaches and assessment requirements for Sciences.

- Understanding of inquiry-based learning, practical laboratory instruction and STEM education.

- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, equipment and chemical management, and risk control in practical science activities.

- Understanding of teaching practices in a bilingual or international education environment.
