I. GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Job Title: Software Configuration Engineer

2. Report to: Technology Manager

3. Working Location: Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park, Ba Ria & Vung Tau Province, Vietnam (Shuttle bus will be provided from 3 locations: Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa City, and Vung Tau City)

II. SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Software Configuration Engineer is responsible for building and configuring the project computer systems & implementation of key process initiatives within the Software area. The position is also responsible for supporting Aftersales in relation to computer and software systems.

III. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Projects/Operations

- Participate in the development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives in Trelleborg software configuration, interfacing with Project Engineering and the Software Team.

- Project PC Systems:

o Review project specifications and order/build project computer systems to suit.

o Install and configure computer operating system in line with D & M project computer specifications.

o Configure operating systems, software applications, installers, firmware, and drivers for projects.

o Configure & Deploy Trelleborg software systems for each project.

o Assist in creating and configuring installers for software systems for each project.

o Confirm correct firmware and driver versions for each project.

o Conduct tests using simulators and other tools, prior to Integration and FAT.

o Assist in Integration, PreFAT and FAT where appropriate and at the direction of the Lead Software engineer.

o Post FAT, finalise and pack PC systems for shipment.

- Identify and resolve issues arising from operating system behaviour.

- Identify the root cause of faults and problems, and make appropriate recommendations to reduce the likelihood of repeat occurrences.

- Maintain documentation for systems, using existing documentation and if necessary, the development of additional documentation.

• Aftersales

- Provide technical assistance and support to Aftersales.

- Act as a technical resource in the provision of small projects and upgrades offered through the Aftersales channel.

- Assist in developing support and upgrade solutions for legacy systems.

- Occasional site service for complex technical issues where required (at the direction of the Lead Software engineer).

• 2-4 yrs of experience in a similar role.

• Familiarity with software development languages is a plus.
