The company works across complex technology environments and provides consulting, architecture and engineering expertise to help organizations modernize and transform their IT landscape.

We are looking for an experienced Security Architect to help organizations design and evolve secure technology solutions while balancing security requirements with business and technical needs.

This role sits within a security consulting function and works closely with business leaders, project teams, solution and enterprise architects, engineers, technology teams and governance stakeholders.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted security advisor, helping identify security risks, define appropriate controls and influence architectural decisions to ensure secure and sustainable technology outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide security architecture expertise and guidance across technology transformation and system development initiatives.
• Assess proposed solutions against security policies, requirements and organizational risk appetite.
• Analyze applications, systems, integrations and non-standard solution flows to identify security risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
• Define appropriate security controls, countermeasures and security requirements to mitigate identified risks.
• Develop conceptual and logical security architecture designs for new and evolving technology solutions.
• Define and assess security controls across areas such as:
  • Identity & Access Management
  • Data & Media Protection
  • Security Information & Event Management
  • Communications Security
  • Configuration Security
  • Vulnerability Management
• Evaluate security solutions while considering technical feasibility, business value and commercial implications.
• Assess and manage security exceptions, technical deviations and significant risks, including alternative or compensating controls where appropriate.
• Influence senior stakeholders, project leaders and technical teams to incorporate appropriate security requirements into solution designs.
• Support architecture governance and significant technology/security decisions.
• Develop, maintain and apply security architecture patterns, reusable controls and enterprise security capabilities.
• Proactively manage security risk and assurance requirements throughout solution design and implementation.
• Work closely with business executives, Product Owners, technology delivery teams, Architecture & Strategy teams and GRC stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor on security, risk and architecture matters.
• Contribute to target-state architecture and technology roadmaps from a security perspective.
• Coach and mentor colleagues on security architecture, risk management and relevant industry practices.

• 10+ years of experience in technology, IT architecture or related technical disciplines.
• At least 2 years of experience in Security Architecture, OR 5+ years of Solution Architecture experience with significant security exposure.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of security architecture principles, models and controls.
• Experience assessing solution designs to identify security risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
• Practical understanding of security domains including IAM, data protection, SIEM, communications, configuration and vulnerability management.
• Experience defining security controls, countermeasures, alternative solutions and compensating controls.
• Strong understanding of security risk, assurance, governance and compliance.
• Experience working with senior business and technology stakeholders and influencing architectural decisions.
• Strong ability to translate complex security topics into clear business and technical recommendations.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance security requirements with business needs and technical constraints.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable handling challenging discussions and influencing stakeholders toward secure outcomes.
• Experience working with architecture governance processes or enterprise technology environments.
• Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
• Strategic mindset, sound decision-making and strong accountability.

Nice to Have

• Security certifications such as CISSP/CSSP or equivalent.
• SABSA or other security architecture certifications.
• Cloud Security certifications.
• Experience within large-scale enterprise or multinational technology environments.
• Experience working with financial services, banking or other highly regulated industries.
