BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

• The incumbent serves as the post’s nurse with responsibilities that include the medical care of Mission employees and eligible family members, utilizing MED approved clinical guidelines, as well as maintenance and inventory of all medical equipment and supplies, implementation of a robust vaccination program, documentation through the global electronic medical record, system administration of group and individual health education programs, and medical emergency contingency planning for the Mission. The incumbent will work in the Medical Unit under the direct clinical supervision of the Regional Medical Officer (RMO) or Medical Provider (MP).

Education: Degree (RN Level) in Nursing or Diploma/Certificate equivalent from an accredited or recognized School of Nursing. Must possess and maintain a valid, current, and unrestricted nursing license from the host nation, the U.S., or a third country and able to legally work as a nurse in the country of employment.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years (equivalent of 4160 hours) post-qualification clinical work as a professional nurse within the last 10 (ten) years is required. No more than a five-year gap in clinical practice is permitted. Clinical work experience includes direct hands-on patient care (i.e. patient assessment, medication administration, immunizations, IV insertions, laboratory procedures, etc.).

Languages:

• Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This may be tested).

• Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

• The incumbent possesses critical thinking skills and can triage health related clinical problems or emergencies to access the best level of available care.

• Willingness to operate with US Standard of Care Nursing Scope of Practice.

• Perform physical assessments and health histories.

• Coordinate clinical care of patients with other clinical staff, either in the Health Unit or in local clinic or hospital.

• Familiar with patient confidentiality.
