About the opportunity

Pon Phu Thai Mobility Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to represent the owner in delivering our Facilities Showroom & Workshop construction projects in HCM City.

Working from an approved project budget and preliminary drawings, you will coordinate design development, manage contractor performance and monitor construction through testing, commissioning and handover. You will work closely with consultants, contractors and internal operational teams to ensure the facility meets approved scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety and brand requirements.

This is a hands-on role requiring regular presence at the project site.

Key responsibilities

• Review the approved project scope, budget and preliminary drawings; identify outstanding requirements and coordinate the project execution plan.

• Coordinate reviews of detailed designs, shop drawings, technical specifications and materials with consultants, contractors and internal users.

• Translate showroom, workshop and spare parts operational requirements into practical construction solutions, ensuring alignment with approved brand standards.

• Coordinate tender documentation, contractor evaluations and award recommendations with relevant functions.

• Develop and monitor project schedules, verify actual site progress and require recovery actions where delays occur.

• Manage contractor performance and follow up on quality issues, technical interfaces, safety concerns and corrective actions.

• Monitor project expenditure, commitments and forecast costs against the approved budget.

• Assess variations and change requests for their scope, cost, schedule and operational impact; obtain the required approvals before implementation.

• Review payment applications and supporting records with relevant consultants and Finance before submitting recommendations for approval.

• Track permits, statutory approvals, project risks and contractual deliverables; escalate issues requiring management decisions.

• Chair coordination meetings and provide regular progress, cost and risk reports.

• Coordinate inspections, commissioning, defect rectification, operational training and handover documentation, including as-built drawings, manuals and warranties.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, MEP Engineering or a related discipline.

• At least 8 years of relevant construction or project delivery experience, including a minimum of 3 years as a Project Manager or in an equivalent role.

• Demonstrated delivery of at least one comparable building project through construction, commissioning and handover.

• Experience in automotive showrooms, workshops or 3S facilities is preferred. Relevant commercial, retail or industrial project experience will also be considered.

• Strong capability in drawing reviews, contractor coordination, site monitoring, budget control and variation management.

• Practical knowledge of construction requirements, permitting processes, quality control and site safety in Vietnam.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.

• Fluent Vietnamese and working English sufficient for technical discussions, correspondence and management reporting.

• Strong negotiation, stakeholder coordination and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to site issues.

• Relevant professional qualifications, including PMP or PRINCE2, are an advantage.

• Available to work regularly on site in Ho Chi Minh City.
