Medior/Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer Fleet Management System (FMS)

The system you will work on

• On-board client: Windows tray application and configuration tool (C#, WPF, .NET Framework 4.5.2) that reads data from the vessel’s automation system, buffers it locally (SQLite), and uploads it over satellite or mobile links that often drop.
• Cloud API: ASP.
  NET Core (.NET 10) with Entity Framework Core and PostgreSQL, Hangfire background jobs, Redis caching, SignalR real-time updates, and JWT authentication with two-factor login.
• Web application: Angular (TypeScript, RxJS) with Angular Material, PrimeNG.
• ShipView: remote-access agent that lets engineers reach on-board PCs from the browser through secure tunnels.
• Infrastructure: Ubuntu Linux servers, Docker, Nginx, and GitLab CI/CD.

Your responsibilities

• Build features end to end: API endpoint, database change, Angular screen and, where needed, the on-board client.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries for large volumes of time-series vessel data; write and review EF Core migrations.
• Build clear, fast user interfaces for real-time monitoring: dashboards, charts, maps, alarm lists, and vessel views.
• Make ship-to-shore data transfer reliable on slow and unstable connections (local buffering, retries, safe re-uploads).
• Keep the API, the on-board client, and the web application compatible when data contracts change; vessels may run older client versions for years.
• Write secure code (authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets handling) and help resolve findings from security reviews and penetration tests.
• Ship through GitLab CI/CD, monitor system health, and investigate data issues reported by customers or vessels.
• Write unit and integration tests and concise technical documentation for what you build.
• Work directly with Project Engineering and Service teams to clarify requirements and deliver on schedule.
• Help modernize older parts of the codebase (.NET Framework, Angular 14) step by step, without disrupting vessels in the field.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building web applications with C# and ASP.
  NET Core (REST APIs, Entity Framework Core, authentication).
• Solid experience with a modern TypeScript front-end framework. Angular is preferred; strong React or Vue developers who are willing to switch are welcome.
• Good SQL skills on PostgreSQL or another relational database: schema design, indexing, and reading query plans.
• Comfortable working on Linux servers: SSH, logs, services, Docker, and Nginx basics.
• Daily use of Git, including branching and code review.
• Good written and spoken English for documentation, tickets, and working with colleagues abroad.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Windows desktop development (WPF, MVVM, .NET Framework), or willingness to learn it for the on-board client.
• Real-time web (SignalR or WebSockets), background jobs (Hangfire), and Redis.
• Charts and maps in the browser (ECharts, NgMap).
• Working with large time-series datasets.
• Web application security (OWASP Top 10, JWT, two-factor authentication).
• CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and service monitoring.
• Background in industrial automation or maritime systems, or protocols such as Modbus, OPC, or NMEA.
• Using AI coding assistants effectively while keeping code quality high.

• You are careful and analytical, and debug from logs and data rather than guesses.
• You work independently, ask early when something is unclear, and can explain technical topics to non-technical colleagues and customers.
