1. Equipment Scope

• Sewing: single/double needle, overlock, safety stitch, feed-off-the-arm, bartack, buttonhole, button/rivet attach, belt-loop, pocket setters and automatic hemming (Juki, Brother, Pegasus, Kansai, Union Special, Durkopp Adler, Yamato)
• Cutting: automatic spreaders and cutters (Gerber, Lectra), band knives
• Denim laundry: industrial washers and dryers, extractors, ozone, e-flow/nano-bubble, laser finishing, spray and robot booths (Tonello, Jeanologia, Ramsons, Yilmak, Pellerin Milnor)
• Utilities: boilers and steam lines, air compressors and dryers, chillers, HVAC, transformers/LV panels, generators, solar, water treatment and recycling plant, ETP

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Build and run a preventive and predictive maintenance plan (PM schedule, lubrication, vibration/thermal checks) through a CMMS
• Achieve PM compliance of at least 95% and continuously reduce breakdowns

3. Breakdown Management

• Respond to breakdowns with a clear escalation process to minimize production downtime
• Set and track MTTR and MTBF targets per machine class; lead root cause analysis on recurring failures

4. Spare Parts Management

• Define critical spares list and min/max stock levels; develop local alternatives
• Source spare parts together with the Sourcing Manager and reduce spare part cost per piece

5. Machine Set-up, New Equipment & Projects

• Lead machine set-up for new styles, attachments and folders with IE and Production; support line balancing changes
• Commission new equipment (laser, ozone, automation) and train operators and mechanics

6. Energy & Utility Efficiency

• Own energy and utility efficiency: steam, compressed air leaks, power factor, water per piece
• Drive initiatives aligned with Saitex’s sustainability and water recycling targets

7. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure LOTO, machine guarding, needle control, boiler and pressure vessel inspections, electrical and fire safety
• Keep the maintenance function ready for customer, legal and B Corp audits

8. Team Leadership, Budget & Reporting

• Build the team: skill matrix, multi-skilling and certification for mechanics; develop a local successor if expatriate
• Manage the maintenance budget and report monthly KPIs to management and the Cost Accountant

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in garment manufacturing, with at least 5 years as Manager
• Denim laundry machinery experience is a must
• Proven experience implementing TPM/CMMS and spare part control
• Expatriate candidates: experience in Vietnam, Bangladesh or Cambodia factories is a strong plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on expertise with Juki/Brother/Pegasus sewing machines and Tonello/Jeanologia laundry equipment
• PLC basics and solid knowledge of factory utilities (boilers, compressors, chillers, electrical systems, water treatment)
• Strong knowledge of machine safety and industrial compliance requirements
• Working English; Vietnamese, or ability to lead Vietnamese technicians through supervisors/interpreters

Soft Skills

• Hands-on, solution-oriented leader who stays calm under breakdown pressure
• Data-driven mindset to move from firefighting to planned maintenance
• Coaching ability to develop and multi-skill technical teams
• Strong safety awareness and accountability

Education

• Degree/diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
• Expatriate candidates must be eligible for a Vietnam work permit (relevant degree + at least 3 years of relevant experience)
