1. Position Overview

Job title: Factory Manager / Giám đốc Nhà máy

Reports to: Managing Director

Direct reports: Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering / Process Manager, Continuous Improvement

Works closely with HR, Product Development (R&D), Purchasing, Sales / Customer Service, Finance

Location: Geuther Vietnam factory, My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park

Employment type: Full-time, permanent.

2. Purpose of the Role

The Factory Manager runs day-to-day factory operations, from raw material to packed finished goods. The role is accountable for delivering safe, compliant, good-quality products on time and within budget, while building a strong, well-led team and a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Factory Manager turns the company’s strategy and annual plan into clear targets, actions and results on the shop floor.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Strategy and planning

• Contribute to the factory’s manufacturing strategy, annual business plan and budget, and turn them into clear department objectives and KPIs.
• Plan capacity, labour and equipment to meet the sales forecast, including peak-season demand.
• Identify and lead improvement opportunities, including automation, layout and investment (capex) projects, with clear business cases.

3.2 Production, delivery, quality and maintenance

• Manage the full production flow – wood preparation, machining, assembly, sanding, finishing and packing – for solid-wood (and, where relevant, metal) baby furniture meet quality standard.
• Ensure the production plan is achieved and orders ship on time, in full, to agreed lead times.
• Work with Product Development on the industrialisation of new products: process design, jigs and tooling, pilot runs and smooth handover to mass production.
• Ensure machines, buildings and utilities are kept in good, safe working order through a planned preventive maintenance programme.
• Lead Lean and 5S across the factory and run a structured improvement programme with measurable results.

3.3 Compliance, health, safety, environment and CSR

• Ensure all factory operations comply with Vietnamese law (labour, fire safety, occupational health and safety, environment) and company policies.
• Make safety the first priority: risk assessments, machine guarding, PPE, dust and fire control, safety training and incident investigation.
• Maintain and improve our social and sustainability standards.
• Support customer, certification and third-party audits, and make sure findings are corrected on time.

3.5 Cost and budget

• Manage factory costs, headcount and operating expenses within the approved budget.
• Drive productivity and cost reduction (labour efficiency, material yield, energy, maintenance costs) without compromising safety or quality.
• Contribute to product costing and quotations by providing accurate process times and cost data.

3.6 People and leadership

• Lead, coach and develop the factory management team and, through them, the whole production workforce.
• Define competence profiles for key roles, set individual objectives and carry out regular performance reviews of direct reports.
• Work with HR on workforce planning, recruitment, training, skills development, retention and succession planning. Communicate targets and results clearly so that every employee understands their role in the plan.
• Build a respectful, fair and disciplined working culture, in line with company values and labour law.

3.7 Reporting and communication

• Provide clear weekly and monthly reports to the Managing Director on output, delivery, quality, safety, cost and people, with action plans where targets are missed.
• Raise risks early – delivery delays, quality or compliance issues, safety concerns – together with proposed solutions.
• Represent the factory professionally during customer visits and audits.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Wood Technology or a related technical field.
• At least 10 years’ experience in wood and/or metal furniture manufacturing or other industry, including at least 5 years as a production or factory manager.
• Solid understanding of production planning, cost control, budgeting and headcount management.
• Practical experience with Lean, 5S and structured problem-solving.
• Good written and spoken English.
