Content Protection Specialist – Content Protection Intelligence & Operations

Headquartered in London, IFPI maintains additional offices across the globe with Content Protection staff based in London, Brazil, Mexico, US, India, Germany, Vietnam and Singapore. IFPI collaborates with national groups and music licensing companies across more than 70 countries. 

The Global Content Protection department provides 24/7 monitoring and reporting of online infringements, conducting technical analysis and investigations into services that infringe members’ rights. It develops and implements strategies to deter, disrupt and dismantle illegal online activities, working closely with law enforcement, intermediaries, and regulatory bodies worldwide. 

Role 

IFPI is looking for an experienced, proactive and operationally focused individual for the role of Content Protection Specialist in Asia. The role will support the delivery of IFPI's Content Protection Operations across Asia, including monitoring, notice-and-takedown activities, handling time-sensitive member requests, and developing regional intelligence to support enforcement priorities. The role will also contribute to country piracy landscape studies, coordinate operational activities with internal teams and provide working-level support for engagement with National Groups, member companies, platforms and relevant authorities, under the direction of the IFPI Regional Asia Manager. 

The ideal candidate will combine hands-on online content protection experience on major platforms, including notice-and-takedown and platform escalations, with experience of working with rights holders, collective management organisations and government authorities. 

The candidate should also be capable of handling complex operational requests independently, supporting junior colleagues with day-to-day workflows, and contributing to improvements in operational processes and monitoring coverage.

This role will be expected to be performed between the hours of 0700 – 1530 Vietnam time (either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday) to ensure retention of the 24/7 coverage IFPI provides our members. Our 24/7 team often is required to flex working hours to ensure coverage is retained during holiday periods, that often differ in scheduling globally. Therefore, the hours of this role will occasionally vary, but sufficient notice will be provided, and this is anticipated to be infrequent. While IFPI’s 24/7 coverage is shared with Content Protection teams in other regions, the job holder must be flexible and able to work out-of-hours when required. 

Key Responsibilities

• Content Protection Operations – Support IFPI's 24/7 content protection operations by monitoring shared mailboxes, processing member requests, conducting notice-and-takedown activities and handling time-sensitive priority releases. Take responsibility for more complex operational cases, escalate issues when required, and support junior colleagues in applying established procedures and maintaining consistent operational standards.

• Regional Intelligence & Reporting – Act as the team’s point of contact with the IFPI London Content Protection team on regional data insights and reporting. Build and maintain country piracy landscape studies, using Vietnam as the model to roll out across the Asia region, and produce regular reports on trends, priority targets and the impact of IFPI’s work. Review and analyse piracy landscape data collected by the team, identify priority targets and monitoring gaps, and recommend improvements to regional monitoring coverage.

• National Groups & Member companies – Develop working-level relationships with Asian National Groups and local member companies alongside the broader Asia team; understand their priorities, gather local market insight, coordinate regional activities, and support engagement planning and priority artist/release protection in key markets.

• Government, Regulators & Law Enforcement – Develop and maintain working-level relationships with copyright offices and enforcement agencies across the region. Prepare briefings, proposals and evidence packages, follow up on agreed actions, and support site-blocking, administrative and criminal referrals. 

• Platform & Intermediary Engagement – Maintain escalation channels with social media, user generated content and digital music services; make effective use of rights management and takedown tools. 

• Collaboration with Investigations & Operations – Pass intelligence, targets and investigation requests to the Investigations & Operations team; use their findings and technical evidence to support enforcement and partner engagement; and contribute local market input to regional training delivered to National Groups.

• Media & Awareness – Support media engagement and awareness activities on content protection in the region, in line with IFPI’s communications guidelines.

The candidate should possess, and be able to demonstrate, the following:

• Significant experience in content protection, anti-piracy, copyright/rights management or a related field, including online enforcement on major social media and content sharing platforms.
• Hands-on experience with platform rights management and takedown tools, Experience handling operational content protection requests, including monitoring, notice-and-takedown workflows, case escalation and time-sensitive enforcement activities.
• Proven experience of developing and maintaining external relationships with rights holders, collective management organisations, government authorities and/or online platforms.
• Good working knowledge of copyright and related rights principles and enforcement mechanisms in Asia.
• Experience of OSINT research, investigative methodologies or business intelligence tools.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and written communication skills, with the ability to turn data into clear insight and recommendations for senior and external audiences.
• High proficiency in English (written and verbal) and the ability to coordinate effectively with colleagues and partners across cultures and time zones.
• Interest in music and technology.
• Proactive, dynamic and able to work independently with sound judgement. Ability to support junior colleagues, share operational knowledge and contribute to the consistent application of established procedures.
• Experience of Microsoft Office Suite, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable 

• Experience of music industry businesses, international rights network or record label/media rights holders. 
• Experience of anti-piracy enforcement, managing digital platforms. 
• Experience of working across multiple jurisdictions in Asia, including supporting teams in neighbouring markets.
• Fluency in Vietnamese, or another Asian language.
• Previous experience of working in a global remote team.
